Anybody interested in black metal or blackened death metal stuff. I am a growler and I do write my own stuff. I am looking for 2 leads(no base required for black metal) and double pedal drummer. If anybody is interested, please call me at 7503029700. P.S. I do not want to form a band with the intension to earn money. If the music is good, money will automatically happen to us.
hi I play lead. generally classic rock. but wont mind exploring black metal. How come bass is not needed in black metal.
Thank you for the reply. I am not saying that it is not required at all. What I actually meant was that in black metal scene, we can do without a bass player. Typically, drumming is fast-paced and uses double-bass and/or blast beat techniques. Black metal guitarists usually favor high-pitched guitar tones and a great deal of distortion. Fst tremolo picking is one of the other features. Black metal cannot bring you fame and fortune for sure, as people consider it to anti christian and satanist(owe it to the ignorance). But yes, black metal is serious music. It is not lovey dovey but seriously serious.... Black metal is more around nature, mythology, folklore, philosophy and fantasy. You will see a striking similarity between JRR Tolkein's Lord of the Rings and the black metal band names and artists. For starters, if you are really serious about the genre, check bands like: Immortal, Emperor, Gorgoroth, Marduk and Enslaved. Please do not listen to bands like Dimmu Borgir or Slipknot. These are good bands but they are more commercial and use black metal imagery for publicity only. See buddy.... I am a married guy and I am not an insane guy who is always busy cursing God and stuff... I do not do drugs(well.... I held up way back) and don't drink too much. What I like about the black metal is the seriousness. I write my own stuff and feel that doing covers is sign of inability as well as making a good song sound shitty ( again personal openion). Please do write if you have questions or maybe want to check what specific songs you should listen to.... Take care Regards, oncemortal
you're saying seriousness is the stand-out quality in black metal? that's a load of crap. most musical genres are meant to be serious. what makes black metal stand apart is its unrelenting sense of evil for those dark moments of our lives. it may not be anti-christ or anything but if you really want to embrace black metal music you gotta do it for the right reasons. plus bass IS important in black metal. i don't know where you got that from
The way Gaahl is potrayed in the popular documentary "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey", you can't help thinking black metal is a joke. But is it seriously challenging from a guitarist's technical standpoint? Can you suggest something that I can check out? By technique I mean something other than just tremolo picking, heard some Nile stuff that sounded nice.
Ok....I agree with what you are saying about BASS stuff.....what I actually meant was that the "way" I see it, it is not important. My intention was not to impose my thinking to everybody. Sorry, if I came across that way. For the seriousness part, I was trying to distinguish "sellouts" from the true metal. Iron Maiden, Pantera, Immortal, Slayer..... to name a few who have been true to the genre and did not try to make music for money. Black metal is just bringing out the the negative aspects of life and discuss them in open. It is all in how you comprehend the message.
i frankly don't understand why people care what techniques are used in a particular genre of music. the emotion and the experience is so much more important than technique. hell, i hate most technical musicians..they all end up making music which can be summed up as pretentious. black metal is raw emotion.
From what little people have told me, black metal is supposed to be a parody. I haven't heard enough to form an opinion though.
listen to a song or two.. they're usually enough to form an opinion..but then it depends on which band you try out. some are atrocious. let me know if you want any recs
I wondered why many singers don't go along with bassists.. I played bass in few occasions where the singers always wanted me to reduce the volume.. almost completely uneffectively low to hold the rhythm.. well is there anything that a bassist does disturbs the singer..? :-/
Hi, M thinking of getting a band together, need a bassist and drummer from dadar-lowerparel.. beginner-intermediate will do. \m/ Ciao
Sorry forgot to mention the genre.. mostly hard rock(stone-sour, led-zeppelin) or metal(iron maiden, megadeth, slayer)..
