Fair enough. But this is what makes PODs irresistible for home recording purposes.
And live you can hook up to 2 Atomic Reactor flat-response tube amps and get tube response and sab that you crave as a player.

In the pipeline:
Yamaha Stagepas 300 stereo powered monitor/mixer (150 W each side)
Transplanting the Variax into a custom-built guitar by Erisa Neogy with a Sustainiac in the neck, DiMarzio X2N in the bridge and an internally-mounted Roland GK-3 along with the Variax circuitry.
