Finger picking sounds great and you get good speed as well skaw, but well, it's your personal opinion.

Yeah, dude, the thumb for E A D strings and index finger for G, middle finger for B and ring finger for E strings. I dont think you should use your little finger while finger picking.

@waheed, yes, it is very important to develope your skills for da index finger..as Sharath as already pointed it out....pinky is also used in finger picking but only professionals seem to use them for now...beginners like use first develope our fingers and den move on...so keep practicing....

Any good flamenco teachers in bangalore?

I love the way they play all spanish stuff and want to learn to play all that. Does anyone know good flamenco guitar teachers in bangalore who cover techniques like rasgueado and high speed finger techniques?

    Cheers.

You seem to know something about Flamenco. Can you tell me what the classical/Flamenco scene is like in places like Bangalore and Cochin?

    Flamenco

I already started a thread about the left hand position for Flamenco/Classical players. I will soon add the Right hand postition and the thumb position. I woul dalso like to explain the concepts behind Flamenco songs and how they are constructed.
    Cheers

i saw someone mention nails earlier...
dont wanna come across as being a camp kinda guy, but nails are of paramount importance in sound production... i will endeavour to write some sort of guide to nail care and shape, for classical guitar and perhaps it will be applicable to flamenco aswell, soon (exams pemitting)...

    Query about nails

Its okay when I try the up movement with the fingers, but when I pick downwards, the nail strikes the string and the sound quality is not good. Same when I try striking upward with the thumb. I saw some training videos on youtube but in all of them the players were using the fingers to play up and the thumb down, never vice versa.

Can anyone please explain how to do this without the nails touching the string?

Also, the sound volume is much lower than while using a pick. How to increase this volume?

    Thanks.
