I don't listen to a lot of extreme metal, but a few good ones are: Nile Borknagar Opeth (well, everyone likes them) Meshuggah Strapping Young Lad Dillinger Escape Plan (punk influenced metal) Also, that cartoon metal band Dethklok, their album has two or three good songs
Among extreme metal,my favourites are meshuggah and cradle of filth! Got myself a copy of cradle's latest album God's speed on the devil's thunder 2 months back!Goodness me,the album is EPIC! Dani filth is an amazing vocalist!He excels throughout the album with his high pich shreaks and low pitched growls!A must have album for all extreme metal lovers! Tracks to check out - The 13th Ceasar,Tragic kingdom,honey and sulphur,darkness incarnate! By any chance dont miss out darkness incarnate!Its a very intense song!
Guys a very good news of all grindcore,goregrind lovers! Carcass are reuniting!Band members are the same except ken owen who suffered from some brain disease few years back and the poor fellow lost all his drumming skills!Its very sad for a guy who was one of the very few to master the blast beat!The new drummer is Arch enemy's Daniel Erlandsson! Thrash anyone??

Dunno abt extreme metal i am a huge thrash metal fan....Some of my fav bands are MEGADETH SLAYER TRIVIUM PANTERA AVENGED SEVENFOLD ANTHRAX TESTAMENT ANNIHILATOR METALLICA(mostly old stuff) CHILDREN OF BODOM NEVERMORE(it had my fav guitarist of all time...the real guitar god JEFF LOOMIS) KEITH MERROW(this guy is solo and awesome) RISE TO REMAIN(\m/ new band) ALL THAT REMAINS ALTER BRIDGE AS I LAY DYING SEPULTRA BLACK VEIL BRIDES AUGUST BURNS RED DEATH DRAGONFORCE INSOMNIUM LAMB OF GOD MACHINE HEAD CACOPHONY(had perhaps the greatest guitar duo any band can ever dream of) MISERY SIGNALS NORTHER REVOCATION(technical death metal band has one of the best guitarist called David Davidson) PAUL GILBERT(he is not xactly metal but can shred like crazy) SYSTEM OF A DOWN....etc etc thats all i can think of right now.....
