Code: e----------------12----------------| B-12---13---15-------15---13-------| G----------------------------------|(to be played as a continous loop D----------------------------------| without pausing) A----------------------------------| E----------------------------------| e-------------------12------12-----------| B----12---13---15-------15-----15---13---| G----------------------------------------|(loop without pausing) D----------------------------------------| A----------------------------------------| E----------------------------------------| e-------------------12---14---15--14--15---14--12----12----------| B---12---13---15----------------------------------15----15--13---| G----------------------------------------------------------------| D----------------------------------------------------------------| A----------------------------------------------------------------| E----------------------------------------------------------------| (loop without pausing) The exercise is to begin with a downstroke and continuosly alt it with an upstroke. All the exercises are realtively simple, the trickiest thing in all exercises is to get the "12" on the first string as an upstroke.Be sure to do that right. Please begin slowly and gradually increase the pace.If you begin at a rapid pace you may unknowingly hit "12" on the first string as a downstroke. First try individual exercises and then play all of them together as if it were one complete song. Of course in addition to these exercises you must keep practising alternate picking in all scales and spiders and exercises you play.
Note:For exercise 1 and 2 hold the 4th finger on the 4th fret of first string and substitute it by the 3rd finger on the rest of the strings if you also want to have stretching exercises...
For those interested in alternate picking or speed in playing the following link provides a lot of exercises for alt. picking...hope it helps.. https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/lessons/guitar_techniques/alternate_picking_technique.html It is important to note that alt. picking can also be practised when doing spider exercises, scales or any song for that matter...just take care of the alt. picking when switching strings..
