could you guys tell me which wood will give the darkest tone?

and how much does a floyd rose bridge on existing guitar cost?

    It depends
Usually mahagony..but rarer things like paduak or teak are also dark
But there are way too many parameters in the equation..you can find a bright sounding piece of mahagony or a dull maple.
A floyd should set you by 6-8 k plus whatever the guy will charge for installation.

Floyd Rose Bridge is approximately 6.5k Plus Installation/ Modification would be 1K..

well the Tulsi fellow is supposed to use Teak Wood, so has any user here really felt that the tone is heavy n dark? and what about Alder and Ash woods? are they available in India?

and how much does it actually affect the tone - given the fact that i play usually overdrive rather than clean?

    Alberto's has alder..dunno about ash.
And even overdriven ,it will impact the tone in your EQ levels if nothing else.
See most of the time, your audience can't hear the difference and frankly couldnt care less what wood your guitar is made of.
But you, while playing it, will feel different guitars differently, and thats when wood becomes important. And it could be the world's most expensive guitar that doesn't feel right. I remember playing a Brian May Signature Burns and it felt horrid to me, but maybe someone else will like it! (I know Brian May does:)
So just experiment in shops with what you like.
    Dunno about teak btw.

I think the pups will matter a lot..not all pickups will allow your guitars sound to come through..so the wood might not be that important...correct me If I am wrong..

Yeah yeah obviously the pups will make a difference..and a much larger difference.
I think what his question means is that if you have everything else as the same, neck wood,no of frets, pickups, bridge (TOM/whammy/strings through), which wood will sound dark?
To which my opinion is as above:)
But its an interesting debate (though done to death imho).

which pickups will be the best for pinch harmonics - basically am looking for heavy dark tone (warm) not too trebly and ones that can pickup even weakest of the harmonics. Unfortunately most of the real hot pickups have high treble component (suited for metal) but not for my taste
