Yup, sounds very n00bish, but after seeing so many ppl upload their stuff in wave format, it becomes imperative to create a thread on this. A sticky thread. Just download any of the following tools: https://winlame.sourceforge.net/ https://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Audio/Audio-CD-Rippers-Encoders/LameXP.shtml https://out-lame.sourceforge.net/ And create mp3 files.
And oh btw, I should add: There is no point in encoding above 128 kbps bitrate. Your home recording is not goign to have so much fidelity, that 128 kbps would make much difference from 320 kbps. + Since most of the recordings involve only guitars and vocals you may further reduce the bitrate to ~96. The only thing that would suffer are the hi-hats and cymbals. But of course, this is not a drums site, aint it?
If you want to rip cd's to mp3/flac/lame/whatever... use Exact Audio Copy. Its the best ripper out there and plus its free.
it makez a buzz yar i tried ittt but the output file iz just giving a buzzing sound n alll da recorded song iz blank???help
i could not help smiling reading the whole thread Yes it better if we upload in Mp3 format...save bandwidth...save time... lots of codecs around to help with that... i love the goldwave audio editor...its small quick and does the job

I record my songs in Creative Wave Studio in ".wav" format & then convert it into ".mp3" with Total Audio converter. There's a tremendous difference in size that from 40Mbs of Wav it drops down to 4Mbs of Mp3, but also the sound Quality worsens. I donot use any mixing softwares (for ex. FL Studio, etc. I just do live clear recording non-stop with my AHUJA UTP30 Mic).
Freeware and Opensource MP3 Conversion Software hi......... All... i think the freeware and the open source solutions are the best. here is some alternatives - 1. You can download lame.exe from lame's website(Remember it's command line tool !!), also you can find some front end over there. Download both of them in a directory and run the front end. 2. Here is a Good resource please check this out : https://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/ it is also uses lame encoder but it is closed source software(But Freeware ).. Best Regards ~David
for recording, vlc is the best tool, free too. media>convert/save just choose the input device as the mic and select on convert/save for ripping, windows media player or vlc
Well I asked this to be made into sticky because back then ppl used to upload crap quality recordings in wave format. Used to take ages to download - and end result could've been achieved with low bitrate mp3 too. You know - they say - always try to see if the juice is worth the squeeze ...
