if u knw even the basics of Guitar u will be able to interpret it ... its very easy

just remeber the guitar is like the periodic table
it has 6 strings and it is like a periodic function
the 5th fret of the 6th string is nothin but the 5th string open
the 5th fret of the 5th string is nothin but the 4th string open
and it goes on untill the third string comes
the 4th fret of the 3rd string is the 2nd string open
the 1st string is the 5th fret of the second string

now if u get any tab wich says 7th fret of 2nd string then it will be the 2nd fret of 1st string

now if u wanna play it on the piano the just follow simple conversion instructions

now i will convert these simple tabs so tht u can play it on the piano
    ( Mission Impossible theme )
    1 -----------------6--8-----------------------------
    2 --8--8--8--8----------8--8--8--8--6--7--8----

now first lets simplify this tab
as the above rule states tht it is like a periodic function
    so the above tab becomes

    1 ---3--3--3--3--------6--8----3--3--3--3--1--2------

now take any key in the piano preferbly in the middle ( Just 2 start )
we r considering in this case the fret 3 as the primary key
    then start it like this

play the key 4 times ...... then play the key 6 - 3 = 3 key in front of the primary key and play it one time
then play the key 2 keys in front of the key u played as 6 fret ..then play ur primary key 4 times then play the key 1 -3 = -2
two keys behind the primary key and last the key behind ur primary key

tadah ... u played the tab on ur keyboard

note - while counting ur keys in the piano u shud also count the black ones ...

Actually keyboard/piano players won't comfortable with the tablature format what we use for guitars.

For piano, we can just mention the notes straight away like |C B A G1|, you can mention the octave number next to each note if you want to be more specific.

In guitar we are in compulsion to use the 6 line tablature format because a single note can be produced in many ways, like u can produce E note on 1st open string, same note on 2nd string 5th Fret and so on. This is not the case on keyboards.

But great thinking and substitutions by Tejas, keep rocking man!!!

I don't know how many are comfortable in converting tablatures like that, I feel more easy in writing down the name of notes.

hay bro thanx for helping us,im REALY interrested in this, but im still little confused on it :S,where did u get the 1-3= -2,where did u get the 1 from, :S dono maby its a stupid question can u please explain mean ,alos can u after that explain little more by tabing dil dil pakistan tabs

    --------------------------------------------------
    ---8---8--------------------------------------------
    -----7----5-----5-----5--7--------------------------
    -------------------8--------------------------------
    ---------------------------------------------------
    ---------------------------------------------------
    aisie zamaan aur asman

,hope u can teach me :D ,thanx again bro

    to @ pakijawan
as i have mentioned earlier .... the guitar works like a periodic table
every 5th fret = next string open
    execpt the third string whr
4th fret = nxt string open

so if u r very new to the guitar u wud ask
"why do we have tabs which cross the 5th fret in each string ?"
the answer is act of minimalism
u can play some songs easily on the fret board wich are >5

    coming back to ur question
i have converted mission impossible tabs to be played on keyboard
    1 ---3--3--3--3--------6--8----3--3--3--3--1--2------

as i tuk 3 as my primary key...
te other keys on the keyboard will be relative to the primary key
    so ....... u get y 1-3 = -2
as the relative key on keyboard is
(given key to be played) - (primary key) = the relative key on keyboard

this is a complex way ...... but wen u get the hang of it u will find it very comfortable and handy as u can change scales in a jiffy

    hi IGTians,

i just came across a website that lets you convert "properly formatted" guitar tabs to piano tabs:

    https://tabnabber.com/convertorBasic.asp

for example, i used the "bheege honth tere" tabs given here:
    https://indianguitartabs.com/showthread.php?t=1399&highlight=bheege+hote
    (Reply #8 by DesiPride143)

    and formatted them as:

    Code:

    e|------------------------------------------------------------
    B|--7-7-5-5----------------7-7-5---5--------------------------
    G|----------7-7-----------------------7-7---------------------
    D|------------------------------------------------------------
    A|------------------------------------------------------------
    E|------------------------------------------------------------

    e|------------------------------------------------------------
    B|--7-7---7--5---7/8--------7-7-5-5-5-------------------------
    G|------7------------------------------7-7--------------------
    D|------------------------------------------------------------
    A|------------------------------------------------------------
    E|------------------------------------------------------------

    e|------------------------------------------------------------
    B|--7-7-5-5--5--------------7-7-5---5-------------------------
    G|--------------7---------------------7-7---------------------
    D|------------------------------------------------------------
    A|------------------------------------------------------------
    E|------------------------------------------------------------

    e|------------------------------------------------------------
    B|--7-7---7--5---7/8--------7-7-5-5---------------------------
    G|------7------------------------------7-7--------------------
    D|------------------------------------------------------------
    A|------------------------------------------------------------
    E|------------------------------------------------------------

    e|------------------------------------------------------------
    B|------------7-5---------------5--3--------------------------
    G|--4-4--6-7-----------4-4-6-6--------------------------------
    D|------------------------------------------------------------
    A|------------------------------------------------------------
    E|------------------------------------------------------------

    e|------------------------------------------------------------
    B|-------------7-5----7/8----7-7------------------------------
    G|---4-4-6-7---------------------7----------------------------
    D|------------------------------------------------------------
    A|------------------------------------------------------------
    E|------------------------------------------------------------

    e|------------------------------------------------------------
    B|---7----7--5-----7--7--5-------7-7-5----7/8--7--7-5---------
    G|-------------7------------7-----------7---------------7-----
    D|------------------------------------------------------------
    A|------------------------------------------------------------
    E|------------------------------------------------------------

and got almost perfect piano tabs:

    Code:

    |3|--F-F-e-e-d-d------------F-F-e---e--d-d----------------------
    |

    |3|--F-F-d-F--e---F-g--------F-F-e-e-e--d-d---------------------
    |

    |3|--F-F-e-e--e--d-----------F-F-e---e-d-d----------------------
    |
    |

    |3|--F-F-d-F--e---F-g--------F-F-e-e----d-d---------------------
    |
    |

    |3|-------C-d--F-e----------C-C--e--d---------------------------
    |2|--b-b----------------b-b-------------------------------------
    |
    |

    |3|-------C-d---F-e----F-g----F-F-d-----------------------------
    |2|---b-b-------------------------------------------------------
    |
    |

    |3|---F----F--e-d---F--F--e--d----F-F-e--d-F-g--F--F-e---d------

    hope it helps!!

    best,
    ode

I'd really love to be able to do that because all the good songs are in guitar format.. and unfortunately i dont play guitar... however... i think that its pretty confusing tho.. hopefully with a little time and effort i will be able to change the guitar tab songs into piano notation songs... thanks so much for the help tho ^^
