Try fruity loops for drums and bass grooves. If you can crack it then you can save your comps as mp3/wav and use it as a track in another multi-track recording software (i dont know a good one). BTW, has anyone here used Guitar Rig Pro 2 ???

Create Professional Music at home You may follow these steps if you want. 1. Collect as much sounds as you can. What I do is I collect all different kinds of sounds all drum sound, bongo sound, tremolo etc and all. I downloaded different demo versions of tabla and western music softwares which gave me plenty of wav files with different instruments and the best part is without noise. Also, there are many sites which offer small sound files just google it and you'll get it. 2. Download audacity opensource software from sourceforge.net This is a very handy software for mixing and giving effects to your music. Now you can drag and drop the sound you want to use in this and insert silence or position whereever u want. 3. Most Tough part You need a good ear to create a small beat. Beat duration may vary from 1-4 seconds. Once u create it nicely just loop and copy paste to create long rythms. U may add effects of different sounds in between as required by your music but it will be little difficult when you start doing it. Once you are familiar with the usability slowly you'll develop your own techniques to do it fast and precise. 4. Easy one Once your beat is created, record whatever you want to and mix it with the beats. your music is ready. 5. Alternate way is you can cut the beats from songs when no one is singing and only beat is being played. reducing your effort by 74%.
