Hello O' wise guitarists. I am considerably new to guitar playing, and i own a hobmer acoustic guitar. I've been pluckin it for about a year now, and as i was planning to move to a electric guitar, this whole recession thing happened. So wat do I do? well i discovered that my acoustic guitar had a pickup inside, so now I try to use that fact to atleast get a louder sound, if not all the effects i can gt from an electric. so here's wat i did.... I got myself an audio jack converter, and tried to plug in my computer speakers, (which hae a built in amplifier). I strum the G chord and TADA!!!! ... nothing.. I juz wana know if it is possible to get such a cheap solution working somehow, If i need preamplifiers between the pick up and the amplifiers from my computer speakers, or is it that those pickups in my guitar juz dont work..? Any comments will be very helpful.. Thanx in advance. Cheers! Akshay.
Not directly to the speakers, since speakers expect a line level signal and your guitar signal is much lower. You'll need a preamp in between. OR, you could feed the input signal to a computer, and output of the PC to the speakers. Fiddle with the Windows volume control settings and you are bound to get a tone out of it. After that, welcome to the world of guitar-PC-nerd-geeks!
connect the guitar to the mic in of the PC not the line in. and hear the sound through the speakers connected to PC. you can even try out the effects if you wish. use guitar rig 3 for testing effects. some effects like distortion will not sound good with acoustic, but you can try out flanger, delay, reverb and tons of effects from guitar rig 3. and playing through guitar rig 3 will actually sound better than just connecting the guitar to the mic in and listening through speakers play with these things and you can record professional quality sounds
Thanx pacifist, thanx spartan! I'll surely try those out and im glad to know that it is possible... I already started designing a pre amp for the system, as I suspected that it was needed.. I know I can get it at like throw away prices, but im juz that kinda geek .Pacifist, is your gear still up for sale..? srsly dont know wat the zoom thing is for... but how much for the washburn..? And why are u selling all that cool stuff..?
He probably has cooler stuff. The Zoom (707????) is a processor. It's a device that takes your guitar signal and adds effects or changes the way it sounds.
So you mean to say if I buy a zoom 707 II, I will be able to use my computer speakers and get all d effects..?? Bt srsly .. at this moment, I'm broke man! Hey spartan! The thing wd mic in and speakers out didnt really wrk.. maybe im missing smthing. I also looked up fr d guitar rig 3 that u spoke about.. it coosts bloody $500!!!! :O I guess I should be satisfied wd the acoustic and maybe go for an electric if i manage to live thru this recession.... Thanx all of you anyway.. Cheers! Akshay.
If you'd so like, and if ur in Delhi, I could sell you my RP50. It is absolute beginner's shit, but it will definitely get you a toe-hold in the scene. Let me know if you want it. The washburn is already sold. Will have to remove it from my queue.
ah i thought you can get guitar rig 3 the other way (i got it the other way ) and lets do a little troubleshooting here. which mic port did you connect your guitar to? front or back? what was the colour of the port? red or blue?
Pacifist.. that wud be cool man, but im in mumbai, and i dnt think its such a smart idea to giv up d buck fr all that shipping n shit! so thanx neway.. hey spartan.. wat other way..? could you show me the way..? About the mic thing, I'll giv it a shot again peacefully this weekend and let u know.. I'm real bz wd my job these days Thanx guys.. U all ROCK! and im sure glad to b a part of IGT!!
oye.. in the snaps they showed some hardware as well.... and i dnt intend to smuggle ne f dat stuff u c.... I dunno if d software alone wud be ne good.. or wud it..? I guess it wud come cheaper
If you get banned, you can just keep coming back. Like the energizer bunny. Give away screen name should be: bad_spartan. It'll take them some time to realize that.
arey dude, no hardware is required. you need that hardware just for changing patches and all by foot. and i don't think you need that thing. just get Guitar Rig 3, connect guitar, and play with the settings and amps in that thing and record songs. its really good for home playing.
hey you were right spartan.... I got it now, connected the jack in the back socket( the blue one as you told me), and now I have a louder guitar!!! thanx a lot... I'll get hold of the guitar rig soon .. i guess.. Thanx a lot to all of you, especially spartan for all the help and patience.. c u arround with another query... Cheers! Akshay.
