whats your favourite street side food ? nothing above 15 bucks allowed .... 20 max.. but actually even 20 is too high for any grub in the chaat family. non-chaat street food like kebabs and rolls are allowed too. my favourite is gol-guppa. its generally 5-7 rupees per plate and tasty. for the uninitiated, its about about 5-6, hollow, table tennis balls sized crisp balls, which are punchered in one end, only to be stuffed with a filling, consisting of mashed potatoes, green peas, chickpeas, diced onion and assorted spices. b4 serving, the vendor dunks it in tamarind water or alternately pours some tamarind water over it. also he sprinkles it with "mixture". if i am somewhat more hungry i go for a pao-bhaji which is about 12-15 rupees in most places and very filling. the low down for pao-bhaji is that its basically a small loaf of unsliced bread, split in 2 halves and then slightly fried in butter, which is served, with tasty and spicy gravy/curry at the side and a slice of lemon meant to be squeezed on the aforementioned gravy before making short work of it all. pakistanis... let us know what you go for/can get, in the streets of pakistan. nri's... let us know what you LIKED while you were still here.....or let us know about the foreign equivalent of chaat-esque grub.
whnenr i feel like i go 4 an ice cream... erm sry.. might not qualify in da chat food category.. but i dig in2 ICE CREAMS all da time
