    Hey guys,

I was going to start giving the notations for carnatic songs, and if possible, an explanation on how to play the gamakams. Is there any favorite?

    How about "Ennathavam" or "alaipayudhe"?

What do u learn first ? A full song, or raagam basics?

Ananth, those songs are good songs..however for more intermediate learning.
I would suggest..i can put down the notations for geethams first. They are small as compared to full blown krithis and sound good with minimal gamakkams. Once we'r through the geethams, we can advance to the keerthanams? This way, you'l will have a basic idea of what the ragam sounds like.

If you insist you want the notation for ennathavam/alaipayuthe...that is fine too. I will post them as soon as I get home.
    Let me know

I actually have the notations for ennathavam and alaipayudhe but its just not the same. I need to know the correct gamakam etc.

hey I can post tabs for raravenu, I learnt the song vocally.

    lets do this together
Harini, you post the notations for raaravenu and I'll post the tabs based on your notations (and maybe a gutiar soundclip). post it in a new thread.

Ok. Let me get home and i will do that.

The notation i give you will probably be along the same lines of the notation you already have. The gamakams are usually understood. Maybe listening to Vocals of the same song would help?
