Ok heres the deal! Pick one: ibanez grg121 or Greg bennett avion av1. Prices round abt the same. GRG121: double cut 2 hums fixed bridge AV1: single cut 2 Hums(duncan designed) grover tuners(nt quiet sure) fixed bridge the only + abt the ibanez is its slim neck nd double cutway bt the av1 sounded more crunchier tho'. Played both,luved both..bt cnt have both.So plz help me choose!
They have quite different sounds although both are quite good. I would pick the ibanez for metal. For anything else i think the AV would be better.
@ambush yeah both r gud. Well wit proper setup like gud amp,pedal nd processor can i get metal sounds from the av1?? Nd will the thick neck(10'' radius) of av1 compromise shredding performance?
The thick neck can effect shredding performance. Also the AV has only 22 frets as against 24 on the ibanez and the higher frets are harder to reach on the AV. As for getting the metal sound i am not sure cause i tried the two guitars only on one setup i.e thru the overdrive channel of a marshal MG. The AV didn't have enough 'Chugg' for playing riffs. Also the bridge on the les pauls are not the best for palm muting(unless they're specifically made for metal like the ESPs).
While trying out both i played some sabbath riffs n found out the av1 to be more crunchy,amp was laney 30w i guess.wat do u think? Nd which wud be better for finger tappin? tho' u hav made some very gud pts. M really confused!
An Avion AV1 wid its seymour duncan pups is any day better dan da ibanez grg121........da only thing i like about da ibanez is dat dey hve 24 frets......wid proper setup u can play ne typo genre except blues on it..... @ambush: marshall amps neway give a very satriani type distortion........so cant reeli play on it for a metallic sound.....unless its attched to a Boss MT2 or an AMT metallizer.....

dun buy da roland cube though........buy a mt2......m not saying dat roland cubes arent good, dey are infact da best......bt honestly u cant reeli change da settings on an amp in b/w a song.............
@angel_of_sin will definitely get the mt2. So now which axe to get? Mainly for rock,hardrk,n metal! in other wrds which is more versatile?Shud b gud for finger tapping too
