Best processor for heavy metal at around 4.5-5k..?

    Isn't the pickup's natural signal mid heavy anyway?

    not exactly; it's a lot more complex than that. has a lot to do with load matching, types of pickups etc. i had a very in-depth article from a german magazine that really analysed guitar pickups, their inherently complex natures and how they interact with loads. IIRC, the resonant spike for a strat pickup was measured as high as 4kHz, as opposed to the 1-2kHz mids that we tend to accentuate.

    so the correct answer would be "it depends".

    4KHz looks perfect.
    It would account for that clangy - jingly - jangly tone of single coils.
