OK,.. guys i gotta do a project in Core Java for this sem. Any ideas for any desktop aplications?? Any help would be appreciated
go to java.sun.com and download the Java Media Frameworks (JMF) package. You can then go about making your own version of Windows Media Player
OK,.. I am thinkin of Parallel Processing,.. any one done any projects in it??? Some insight would be helpful!!! Thnx
Explain Hey, nice to know u got interested in parallel programming through Java. However, Parallel programming (threads) are built-in java. If you are planning to create a platform, then C is the best choice not java. Because java will again create layer which will slow down the whole process. I would be very happy to help if you could exactly explain what u are exactly planning to do. A Threaded Application A Parallel Platform An Application Showing Thread Capability of Java Just letme know and perhaps I could help with whatever tinymini I know! Happy Hacking. :insane:
If performance is your issue then yes C is the best. If you want cross platform compatibility and easier integration with alternative technologies then go with Java. Of course you can also slim down Java a lot and optimise it considerably but then most people don't know how to do it properly
OK,.... i wont be going for C anyways,... i just want to demonstrate parallel processing funda, so java wud do fine. Any idea wat kinda data can be used to demostrate,...??? addin u rabbi!!
again I'm going to say a Multimedia player. With JMF you can synchronise two seperate time based media streams so that they are synchronised to start and stop and play at the same time. On a pentium 3 machine I was able to get four video streams play together at teh same time with no adverse affect on their audio or video quality or clarity. Outside of Multimedia and Parrallel Processing there are plenty of other things to do. Grid Computing is an example, Artificial Intelligence, Game Intelligence and so forth.
i'm at work nowadays so i don't really logon. you wanna get in touch then just email me instead or put your ideas up in this thread.
