with a glass of lassi for celebrations......

damn it was hard work making the sketches and then getting it cut took almost 2 hours!!!!

anyways the end product (NOT Al. just the first phase making a wooden stencil)

glad to get it done...... now off to buy some aluminium sheets (will have to weld them dont get 45mm thick al sheets ..........)

oh and the design is almost the same measurements of a real SOB yay!!! :) (read: happy fool)

So is it a solid alluminium body? or will you just be plating?

What construction method? neck through or bolt on?
And how will you cut the alluminium?

Also if you think cutting out a template is hard-work, wait till you get to the rest of it. I honestly feel sorry for you having to cut up alluminium. On my guitar,t eh maple is so hard I had to get a carpenter to help. it took him like half a day for a 10" long cut through 2 inches deep(on the initial neck cut). Hell, cutting out bevels by hand takes me most of the afternoon per side.

    Anyway, best of luck!

and share some info on the guitar as in neck construcition, etc..

well it'll be a solid aluminium body not a plated one (anyone can do that:)
it'll be a bolt on neck not a thru.
i'll be casting the aluminium !!!!! yup i am searching for someone who will get me a 35mm (cant increase the width further tooo much weight then) solid sheet i contacted ppl in delhi they'll get back to me (hope:asap)
if they give me a no i'll have to cast the body which is a painful job ...
if i get the sheet i'll be really happy
i dont want to weld 3 12mm sheets bcoz of lack of skilled welders they wont be able to weld between the sheets so there will be a air pocket left damping the sound
well mostly tomorrow the aluminium guy will call me or ill have to go for the longer more difficult option of casting it

will have to cast it myself because small scale casting is a prob in Jaipur
no factory will do it for me :(
and i cant cast between the exams ........
so mostly u'll hear frm me in the next 3 days

    happy sankrant!!!!!

Chambered aluminium will be a little(and i mean a lot) harder to do though, won't it?

It will resonate differently too don't you think?

idk...i have no idea how aluminium would sound in reality.
I don't think it'd be like wood where chambering also affects the sound.

To the thread starter, have you played an aluminium guitar before?

na i've never played a aluminium guitar before

not everyone has driven a ferrari but we all know it is awesome right??

anyways the sound is much btr than wooden guitars......... because metal reflects sound more than wood (it absorbs sound)

i've given the link for comparision at the starting of the thread check it out......

    :)
