I recently bought a Zoom G1. It came without the Ac Adapter. Should I buy the original Zoom adapter that it recommends (Ad-006) or can I go for other cheaper compatible adapters?

Adapter = rectifier = ac to dc converter.

All you need to know is the volt and amp requirements of your Zoom G1.
    Any will do

As far as working goes, it should be fine but some manufacturers may not offer warranty on their units if their adapter is not used...

i have a Zoom G1 N Ext. came in without an adaptor. I bought a Panasonic standard 9 V adaptor for 150 bucks. Works absolutely fine with it.

Thanks everyone. Was using rechargeable batteries for a while now. Will look into buying a Panasonic adapter. :)

You can use any 9V adapter.
To be on the safe side though, avoid the local (made in city outskirts types) adapters.

for what its worth, Jorg, Im with you. It would be great to use the mousewheel for zoom.

I have zoom fast to one button and then zoom out to the other. and then Alt-C to another... --Im too poor for track IR.
