I am getting new pickups and pots for my guitar(expecting them by Wednesday), but the wiring scheme with my current standard 5-way switch is totally screwed up (basically the schematic on the Duncan website was flawed) Now, I am looking for a 5 way super-switch(4 pole with 24 lugs). Can I get one here in India or better still, in Bangalore?Who stocks this kind of stuff? The imported Korean/Chinese switches would be more than enough. I might be able to get one from the US but it will take a few months plus it costs around $15+shipping , and I want to complete all mods and upgrades at one go.
Hi nebu. what switching are you looking for? and you are saying the scematic in the duncan website is flawed well whihc one i s it let me know so I can inform them abouth it ( I hope you are dead right abouth it being flawed). and yes which pick ups are you loading? There are a lot of guys who can draw beautifull scematics in the Duncan forum I can ask them for you.
Its the one with 2 HBs and a 5 way switch, with an odd switching sequence...(with pos 3 as neck HB)It was mentioned somewhere on the SD forum itself that this one is wrong:.newaz, the odd sequence is rather inconvenient... I have studied some of the schematics on the SD forum, and also confirmed with Dimarzio tech support...I do need a super-switch just coz I want at least one pos with both split coils on, and a standard sequence.. Not really necessary, but just playing around and customizing my (actually)new axe:
Ok you mena you want some this Position 1 NECK-2 NECK AND BRIDGE-3 BRIDGE. and then an extra switch so you can split both pups right eaither together or sepratly right. Why not put a thre way swithc and push pull pots? This is what I have in mind for my custom guitar. so I can get upto 8switching. Also I suggest instead of splitting the Humbuker run it parrallel. Running it Parrallel gives you a single coil type sound but yet it is humcancelling.
I had thought about the 3-way switch and a push-pull tone pot..but was undecided when ordering and got a normal tone pot, then realized that its imposs to get anything usable out of the regular 5 way switch which i already have on my guitar. With a 5-way super switch I can get any possible wiring sequence(albeit only 5 choices), but thats more than enough. I just wanted the tele/ strat kinda split coils together, alongwith the regular bridge HB, neck HB, neck single and the 5th one could be anything.I am getting a Dimarzio Bluesbucker in the neck, so only 1 coil is useful when split. BTW, in all the wiring discussion, I forgot about the original question..can i get this kind of switch in India?I did talk to a shop here in Blore, he says he might be able to import a korean one, but I aint too hopeful.
LOL Nebu, Tulsi has done the same wiring for my guitar. 1. HB Bridge 2. HB Bridge + HB Neck 3. HB Neck 4. HB Neck + Single Bridge 5. Single Bridge
:grinoes it work? And what had you actualy asked for? For me the pos 4 and 5 have bridge single coil maxed out, no effect of Vol pot whatsoever. Someone pleej tell me , will I get that damn super-switch in India
It might be a bit diff to get it out here. And I suggest dont order it over the net . You might have to pay a bomb for it, cause of customs ( i had to pay a bomb at the customs for the JB). If some oneis coming from the states ask them to get it. Same goes for the pups. The best you can do is ask that guitar tech to get it for you. They keep having people go aroad and get stuff for them so he can actulay get it chaeper for u.
Nah, i'm good there..wouldnt even consider paying that huge customs and international shipping fee I am always keeping a lookout for colleagues/relatives going for a US trip..thats how my current batch of stuff is coming in(after 6 months of waiting)..unfortunately didnt buy the switch with my other stuff
Yup, doing all sots of customizations and hoping to create a killer axe for about 16K overall. Putting a Virtual Hot PAF in the bridge too, and all CTS pots Although I am a total n00b(this is my first elec), I really went overboard with my gear research and ended up spending big $$$:
Thats ok. I am in the process of gettin a guitar custom made. it will house the JB in my curent guitar and a JAzz. My current guitar is very light which I like and sounds nice. But it is very uncomfortable ( V STYLE), and the neck is too thin (AHHHHH) I prefer a slighlty thiker neck, I hate the IBANEZ NECKS.. I had replaced the PIck up my self.. Its not diffcult if you are comforatble with soldring. You wont belive this but my guitar originaly had two CRAPY single coil pick ups YES A FLYING V WITH SINGLE COIL. and the out oput SUPER LOW AND VERY VERY BRIGHT.AHHHHHH. But the JB is very nice. VERY BALANCED, smooth and yet cuts... It is not ICE PICKY like many people say it is.. By the way what are you doing with your original pickups?
.GAS GAS. Pickup selector works fine. But it is little wierd. Plus he has wired it other way round. So when I keep teh switch nearest to neck, it select bridge humbucker. LOL. Anyway I dont mind as far as it works fine. I dont change the pickups pretty often during songplay.
My original pickups will mostly stay with me, they arent all that bad ...some generic korean high output HBs..I dread to think what I'd do if the new DMZs dont sound much better..fat chance, but a real scary thought:shock: Basically, going for a unique sounding SC/HB in between axe(in theory) Two SCs on a V?..LOL @alpha1:..its that way only .. nearest to neck = bridge Preferably the neck and bridge HB positions should be 1 and 5, and the bridge single coil aint of much use, a neck SC mode certainly should be. GAS GAS!!:
Kya baat kar rahaa hai? Bridge single coil is THE tone. Telecasters are known for that super bright/trebly/airy tone. Huge part of wihch is contributed by Bridge single coil.
