How many of you actually like heaviness in music? (wanted to know) Here's my list (In no real order): Meshuggah - Nothing (2002) / Chaosphere (1998) (Cant decide, both of them are heavy as hell) Strapping You Lad - City (1997) Dillinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinty (2002) Cryptopsy - None So Vile (1996) Pig Destroyer - Terryfier (2004) Napalm Death - Harmony Corrpution(1990) / From Enslavement To Obliteration (1988) Fear Factory - Concrete (1991) (i chose this over a cannibal corpse album for the heaviness) The Berzerker - Dissimulate (2002) Cryptopsy - Blasphemy made Flesh (1994) Decapitated - Organic Hallucinosis (2006) / Winds of Creation (2000) (Cant decide again) Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines (2002) /Anhiliation of the wicked (2005) (Again ) Oh...wait, thats 11 but who cares...
^^ You dont sound stupid. Heaviness is usually the intensity of the album. The guitar sound also plays a big part. Lets say, its intense music that drives you nuts
o very well, i thought u meant heaviness in the sense like "thats heavy", (a now sumwht outdated term 4 sumthing thats gud)... in that case, i not so sure wht my best 10 albums r, cos i dont really listen 2 loads of rock... my first music is bhangra
Btw my top 10 in order 1: nile 2: death 3: morbid angel 4: deicide 5: cannibal corpse 6: malevolent creation 7: immolation 8: dying fetus 9: obituary 10: six feet under
Oh yeah, another album i forgot: Nasum - Grind Finale   And i forgot hate eternal albums aswell.
Doubt: Can you consider bands like Immortal as heavy? I mean, they dont drive me nuts, but is very intense anyway.
Yeah, might be. I like Sons of the northern darkness much more though. Sidenote: For black metal fans : Check this . Its pretty lame but funny.
I don't really listen to very heavy stuff but here is mine. Mine doesn't even compare to the stuff you've posted but here goes: Opeth - Ghost Reveries (2005) Death - Symbolic (1995) Kalmah - They Will Return (2001) Children Of Bodom - Hatebreeder (1999) Opeth - Deliverance (2002) Dark Tranquillity - Damage Done (2002) Judas Priest - Painkiller (1990) Kalmah - Swampsong (2003) Death - The Sound Of Perseverance (1998) In Flames - The Jester Race (1996)
^^ Didnt you like City from SYL? I mean its basically the only one from them that i like. The ones on your list look like theyre the heaviest you can go before you can lose the sense of tone (and become more rythmic in nature). Nice list of albums though. I like most of them (didnt check out others, but the ones i know, i like)
im more into heavy metal than death metal so my 10 heaviest albums wud be Painkiller - Judas Priest Rust In Peace - Megadeth The Dark Saga - Iced Earth Kill 'em All - Metallica Piece Of Mind - Iron Maiden Blizzard Of Ozz - Ozzy Osbourne Time Of The Oath - Helloween Images And Words - Dream Theater Cowboys From Hell - Pantera (i dnt like death metal but this album is an exception, RIP Dimebag) Back In Black - Ac/Dc
First of all thank you for your compliment. I do not like Strapping Young Lad at all but I have only heard City so that was the one I recommended to you. I wasn't very impressed though as I prefer melody in the music I listen to rather than outright heaviness.
