How about trying this version? Thank you, Yesbee sir, for the excellent chord work, particularly at the end of the song. Your suggestions inspired me to modify the last line in my version. I can usually get about 70% of it right, and I rely on you and legends to help me refine it further. Your insights really enhanced the piece! Here are the changes I made based on your advice: Thanks again for your invaluable help! En (G)uyiri(Dm)lae un(G)nai ezhu(Dm)dha Pon(D)meni (G)thaaraa(Dm)yo
As per the MP3, the Scale of the song is originally in E Minor. Unfortunately, I could not find any good quality file (320Kbps MP3 or FLAC) online. So, based on the few medium quality MP3s that I downloaded (which had faint Basslines), here is my version. If C#m7b5 (C# Half-diminished chord) is difficult to hold and play, you can play Em6 as both chords technically have the same notes, however C#m7b5 sounds better than Em6. For completeness, I have provided chords for all 4 Charanams. Scale: E Minor Time Signature: 3/4 Pallavi (Em) ஆயிரம்... நிலவே வா... ஓராயிரம்... நிலவே வா... இத(C#m7b5)ழோரம்... சுவை தேட... புதுப் (Bm) பாடல்... விழி... (Esus4) பாட... Scale: E Minor Time Signature: 3/4 Hi Vijay, Thank you for sharing such a detailed breakdown of the chords for 'Aayiram Nilave Vaa.' It’s evident you’ve put tremendous effort into this, especially with sophisticated variations like the C#m7b5 and the alternative Em6. Your method of adapting the song based on different quality MP3s is incredibly professional and demonstrates a deep understanding of music theory. I appreciate the options you’ve provided for simplifying the chords, which are helpful for players at different skill levels. The thoroughness of your work, including chords for all 4 Charanams, truly enhances our ability to perform and appreciate this beautiful song in its entirety. Thank you for your dedication to preserving the authenticity of the music while making it accessible. Your expertise is invaluable, and I'm always eager to learn from your meticulous approach. I know my version was overly simplified and rough, and I’m not yet at your level of mastery. However, I'm challenging myself to delve deeper and will provide feedback on your transcription soon. Once again, thank you so much for accommodating my request. You are truly a philanthropic legend and far too modest. I plan to attempt playing the song and will post a video soon. Although I’m not sure if I can do justice to your chords, I may adapt them in a way that sounds close to the original, as best as I can. Thank you Siva Chinniah
Hi Siva, Thank you very much for your detailed feedback and showering me with your kind words. I am still learning and trying very hard to improve my transcribing skills everyday. One day, I will certainly reach at least 1% of our Legend's level. I put significant amount of effort and I also do plenty of homework such as - ear training, reading books etc., to improve and enrich my transcribing skills. The only thing I can confidently say is - I am very very strong in Music Theory which helps me come this far! I practice every single day for at least 30 mins. Not a day has gone by without practicing, in the last 4 years (including Diwali, New Year, Festive periods or even when I am unwell, etc...). Thank you again for your detailed response! Please let me know if there are any mistakes in my chords. I will work on them to correct and improve further. Kind regards, Vijay
Hi I’ve been studying the chord progression for "Aayiram nilavae vaa" based on the versions shared here, including those by Vijay and Suresh. While I appreciate the sophistication and technical accuracy of the complex chords by Vijay, I found them a bit challenging to harmonize with. As a result, I experimented with a simpler version transposed to Em, which feels more comfortable for me. Here are the chords: (Em)Aayiram nilavae vaa Oar aayiram nilavae vaa Idhazh (A)oram suvai theda Puthu (D)paadal vizhi (A)paada (G)paada (A)Nalliravu thunaiyiruka (G)Naamiruvar (A)thaniyiruka (A)Naanamenna bhaavamenna (G)Nadai thalarndhu (A)ponadhenna (A)Illai urakam orae Manam ennaasai (G)paaraayo En (A)uyiri(Em)lae (Bm)unnai (F#m)ezhu(Em)dha Pon(E)meni (A)thaa (D)raa (Em)yo I'm keen to hear your thoughts and suggestions on this version. Thank you. Siva Chinniah

I will definitely reach out if I notice any areas for adjustment in the chords, but from what I've seen, your work is exceptionally precise. Your goal to reach the level of our legends is admirable, and with your dedication, you're undoubtedly on the right path. Thank you once again for your openness and for sharing your process with me. It's a pleasure to learn from and collaborate with someone as dedicated as you. Warm regards Siva Chinniah
