Very true. But you do get more exposure to the environments as you age. And the brain develops to be more fair. (or whatever the surroundings want it to be, which is where your point comes in). I mean, you dont see 17 year olds beating each other up(i'm talking about normal cases) for the similarly important reasons as 7 year olds do. Children are be stupid, unethical and brutal creatures IMO. (just, they dont have the body to show their brutality) Ethics have to be taught. (by their surroundings mostly, as you said).

And lavina doesnt seem to have the [partially]matured brain. Anyway, i'll shut up because i seem to be talking obvious truths and i'm listening to burzum.

But then again, people like you have the capacity to mold their brains to fit whatever career they choose and still be successful at it. Anyways, addressing the issue of the creature at hand. Just as there are normal and abnormal 17 year olds, so are there normal and abnormal children (in this case the 7 year olds). According to studies no-one has predominance or rather dominance over the other. It is such a translucent line between the two because just one situation or one circumstance can make the individual step over the line. And although the brain takes time to mature indefinitely by age, (pardon me, the environmental psychologist in me comes out taking a stance), your environment is the defining factor in shaping your brain. What age does is develop your brain not shape your thinking. If you look long enough i'm sure you'll find a 7 year old humanitarian, a 7 year old normal kid, a 7 year old genocidal kid with equally developed brains but all with a different mind set and perspective shaped by the environments and the beliefs that they grew up on. And see, ethics can be taught technically speaking. But if the child was brought up on staple beliefs that are against every ethical law that we base our society upon, well, he's going to end up probably a juvenile delinquent. If a child has in his/her mind that is is justified to kill a human being for their own means, the ethic that, that is not right will not mean much to them. That is why i guess laws are in place to enforce ideals, not simply inspire them. And yeah, lavina isnt fit to exist.

 

@lavina,You're pushing me. I'll ask you to refrain once more. And yeah, the people reading this thread will stand testament to who "the loser is". Winning an argument with you wont do any good to my ethos. Rather it'll probably topple it down a few notches cause it would be like fighting a handicapped person, in your case, mentally. @disturbed: If i understood you properly, youre saying taht a person's behaviour is influenced basically by their surroundings and the society that one is in. That is perfectly true IMO, but i was assuming that she was in a "normal" surrounding as we know it. I guess that was my error.


But my (only remaining) point was that the society is more tolerant when a kid strays from the rules or practices of the society. For example in a society where genocide is encouraged, a kid thinking that genocide doesnt make sense would be tolerated but has to be mended by adulthood.

And a career in psychology? Well, i like discussions like these. I learn quite a bit from these, but psychology is not the best thing that i'd want do for the rest of my life. But it is very interesting though.
