A Great admiring for Ilayaraja happened today from my friend

Let me explain you guys very short and very true... which happened a few hours before...

He is a over talking person... who does not show much interest in Music and when it comes to hear Ilayaraja songs... He never even bothers...

He is my mate in the Gym (note this point your honour)... the thing we used to fight for is only about his carelessness for such a genius...

today... He asked me enquired the Nandhalaala song 'thaalaattu kekka naanum.... ethanai naal kaathirundhen...'

I told him I have heard this song a lot of times... and a real heart piercing mother centimental song ....

the guy really couldn't stop weeping... he said 'that guy is a real genius... I did not see the film, did not heard it before... just once I heard... and made my heart so heavy... '

IR really at times (without efforts of his fans like me) makes people understand his caliber...

That's the another reason people are staying away from IR songs nowadays. People don't have patience to listen songs like this and get heavy hearted anymore, all they want are foot tapping numbers for the party or songs like "Ayyayyooooo" from Kumki.
Not sure how they can enjoy songs like in marriage halls, is not considered "abasagunam"?

 

True Senthil, the taste differs now. IR also has changed a lot nowadays. Orchestra is different in the recent films. The old flavour is missing. Is it to attract new generation?

 

As human beings "progress" their multitude increases and therefore their tastes becomes less elegant (as a sum of collection of humans) ...
Music becomes more rhythm (and primitive) oriented as compared to being melody oriented (which was earlier).
Language becomes less grammatical and more convenience/ad hoc based.

 

Well said alpha1. It is fully true. I can also see the 'number of hits' in my posts between old collections, popular collections and the new songs. It varies significantly.

No way boss. I have never heard this number. It takes more time to tab songs not heard at all. The songs which are quite familiar getting the rhythm / tune automatically & the song we hum are easy. I do not have time................ Sathya
