While C# Minor and E are logical, the C# is a variation in Pallavi itself. Possibly this is done to accommodate the major scale notes in Pallavi part of the song. May be due to the lyrics and the tune, the song has both Minor and Major scale notes. On the whole the song is a real "Masala"............ But I like this song........... Sathya

Tried it out, sounds good.

Couple of queries:
1) I am unsure if we are missing any chords in these two lines, sounds good but feels something minor missing.

2) Is the chord F# or F in this line below?
(B)paadhai mariayadhu
(F)kaalam seidhuvitta (C#)maayamo

Yes Rajesh it is F# obviously. It was a typo.
