Hi, I have recently bought an Epiphone Les Paul Studio electric guitar. I am looking for a suitable practice amp to go along with it. My budget is at most 6k Can anyone make any suggestions within this budget? Also, would a Fender Frontman 10G suffice my needs? thnx, vivaro
You may be better off waiting for a while and getting a good amp, that guitar is a nice one and I would say any guitar amp in the mentioned range would not do any justice to your guitar, and you may end up selling it very soon for peanuts and spend a lot more money all over again to get a new good amp..... I would say go get yourself a Vox Amplug, maybe a Vox AC30 amplug, which sells for about 3k i think, and save up some cash to get a good amp For about 11k, you can get a Blackheart BH5H combo amp, with a 12" Eminence speaker in it, I own one in the head format and love it..... Great for blues/rock/hard rock and can do metal with the help of some pedals........ .....or a Blackstar HT1 combo for about 14.5k (Saptaswara.in) these are real nice amps, save up and get a good one, and to top it all, these amps mentioned are all tube amps......This can do all that the blackheart can do You may also consider a Fender Champ - Sells for about 12k or so......Good for blues/Rock
Thanks for the reply. I am not sure what the AmPlug does and how good it is? can you elaborate. Also, how is the Fender Frontman 25R amp. Its available for something like 6.5k. And when you say wait for a while to increase my budget, how much should the budget be and do you have any good recommendations ? thnx, vivaro
Amplug is a headphone amplifier, you can just hook it up to your guitar in the place of the guitar jack and use some earphones/headphones and rock it out.....these are real nice for silent practice and you can record as well using the 3.5mm jack into the laptop..... I am not familiar with the Frontman 25R, So i cannot comment on how it plays etc.....But I would say give it a try if you like it and suits you, go for it..... The amps i mentioned in my previous post are good, I can atleast vouch for the Blackheart Little Giant Combo, which costs about 11.5k, I must tell you that I had opened this amp apart and was amazed at the build quality and the tubes that it comes with are JJ tubes, which are really good ones and are sold with expensive amplifiers........Overall that amp is built like a tank and will last you a really long time with great tones and for an awesome price I must say......All you would need in the future is a good pedal to push the amp for high gain stuff and also to play at lower volumes......

I would say go for Roland cube 15 xL. Wat a amp in the budget . Although it is 2 k more than yours but if you can afford it it is worth every penny
You can connect the Amplug into a speaker system that has its own amplifier, like the desktop speakers.....But do not connect it to just a speaker which does not have an amplifier inside......
Roland cube amps are really nice, but the 15XL has an 8 inch speaker, I hate to say this but an 8 inch speaker will not get you the tone or the bottom end one should get, the speakers are the weakest links in most combo amps.......I have a Laney Cub 10, which has a Tube 10 speaker, that is the weakest link in the amp, otherwise the amps sounds great for the price......

Thanks for all the replies guys.. I am going to go in a couple of days to music stores in my city with my guitar to see what amp sounds best. Keeping my options open right from the Vox AmPlug to the Roland Cube's. I do wanna buy a good amp but dont have too much money so might go in for an amplug to save now and get a better amp in the future.. Cheers, vivaro
Amplug is a waste of money...If you're low on money go for stranger amp... Plenty of them available in the used market... You'll get a 15/20W amp for under 1k..
Bhai, with all due respect, I would love to practice with an amplug with some decent tones than with a Stranger.......Tone is a Stranger on Stranger Amps.......
If you see my original post I said my budget was 6k. I came to this forum to find out if that would be enough to buy an amp that could do justice to my guitar. Looks like it might be better to go with a good amp later than a mediocre one now. So for the time being I probably will go with an AmPlug unless I find a suitable used amp in the next few days.
