I found the ESP-LTD EC-50. Some reviews says that its good and the others say its and 'ok' guitar. Any other sugesstion for guitars under 16K? I play songs from Guns N roses, green day, metallica, iron maiden but i also need guitars with good clean(non-distorted) sounds.

I am selling my ESP EX 260, it is in mint condition and has a Seymour Duncan JB SH4 pickup in the bridge position......an awesome guitar, plays really well......However I have moved on from Metal etc to Blues, Classic Rock....and hence need a strat type guitar.....PM me if interested......I am ready to let it go for 15.5k, No less than that.....

ESP's are some really nice guitars, however you need to increase your budget to get some real nice ones......I would suggest you wait a while and then buy a good guitar, do NOT think of it as a spending, but think of it as an investment....Just my 2 cents....

Increase my budget by how much? I was thinking of buying an affordable guitar and change my pickups down the road... I really play alot of slash's solos n all on my acoustic! I cant bend more than half a step if im in standard tuning :( that is why i want to buy an elec...

ESP have the ec-100qm which is ~19K and if you look at the specs, its the same as the ec-50 but with a quilt maple top... i dont want strats or guitars with single coils, i like that nice fat sound of humbuckers. My friend has an Ashton SG Style guitar for 11K(not sure of model) The finish was very cheap and frets werent good. i thought an extra 5k would be enough. Will a ESP EC50 last for 4+ years?

Please tell me if there is any difference between the ec 50 and ec 100 except for the finish.

    1. Looks like you have already decided that you want humbuckers. Good.
    2. Remember Strats also come with humbuckers (and so do SG shape and Super Strats). Have you decided that you only want a Les Paul shape?

Yes, I love the les paul shape and prefer that over the sg style guitars...
I really want to know what's the difference between the ec 50 and ec 100. EC50 is the cheapest.

    Its cosmetic.
Unless you really buy the story of slices of wood affecting the tone.

Wow, the F series looks great!

will the Quilt Maple Veneer make a difference in tone. And the QM on the ec 100 isnt that great(In My opinion). im ok with the ec 50 if it sound the same as the c100qm

If you play well than the guitar doesn't really matter much... Just make sure that the guitar doesn't have stability issues with tuning...

Yes.. Coz it's true... If you can't sound good with a mediocre guitar you're not gonna sound any better with the pro guitar...

The Quilt Maple offers much more attractive guitar models, nothing else.

+1 --- A good guitar player, can play any guitar well.....I would suggest the OP to stick to a fixed bridge guitar......that would have less worries in terms of going out of tune etc......

My 5k GB&A goes out of tune every minute, yet i use it most than the ESP :D

Yeah a fixed bridge is the way to go on this budget. Try out the guitar thoroughly, just make sure the hardware on the guitar is decent and the amp you play through is also an important part of your tone. 18-20k is a decent budget, buying second hand is also a nice option and you get a better instrument at a lower price.
