Best String guage for Acoustic\Electric guitar

  1. Hi Guys,

I've Pro-craft acoustic guitar(Mini-Jumbo/Concer/GS-Mini shape) guitar and Greg Bernet AV-3. What do you suggest what is the best string guage for it.

Right now i put .11-.52 gauge D'addario string on my AV-3. It kind of of seam heavy to me. I feel it is hard to do bend on this guage of string. or i'm using the proper technique.

    Guys please help me

    Thanks in advance

i ordered for 9 for my acoustic two weeks back but i felt its too light and plus my guitar was not sounding the way it used to.bending and all all stuff was too easy with 9.
I have ordered for 11 this time.

I am yet to discover which gauge suits my fingers the best. But i think 11 would do!

String gauges are personal choice , I like .11s , and jumping suddenly into .11s or .13s from .09s are not good for your fingers . But most people like tone of thicker strings. You can try tuning to Eb or something like that with thicker strings.

The one that is MOST COMFORTABLE to you is the one for you.
11s are ultra heavy! No wonder you will have a hard time doing string bends. Only a few players actually prefer that heavy gauge (heavier gauge sounds more - thick and "cleanish").

    Most prefer 9s ...

9s and 10s are enough for electric i guess, your acoustic will anyways have heavier gauge in case you want to train your fingers.. I use 10-52 for my Dean VMNT ....

plus did you do the intonation of your electric guitar after putting the heavier gauge?

  6. No I didn't do the intonation. Is it necessary every time I change my string?

Not everytime you change the string but everytime you change the gauge... It is mandatory !
