I seem to have run into a dilemma and I understand who better to ask for advice than some of you guys, who have tons of online shopping experience relating to guitars and guitar accessories...

I have been looking for Seymour Duncan 59/Distortion combo for the past two months at a price of 10k or less... Turns out it's really hard at that price mark because the rupee rate blew out... None of the music shops in my city have them (even the dimarzios too) in stock and they claim that the supplier has stopped providing stuff and it's not available in the country... Asked a local propeitor, he said he could import the pickups for 6k each... Contacted Sara Trans, the Official SD distributor in India and didn't et a reply for them... Finally resorted to online shopping... Bajaao states the price at 12k+ for both so ordered from furtadosonline for 9.5ks... After a week they told me that they couldn't ship the pickups because it failed the quality check (probably zero stock and a bad excuse) and refunded the money.... I kept waiting and looking, looking and waiting and long story short, this post sprang up in quite a few threads of IGT... I believe many of you managed to lay your eyes on 'em...

So I got to their page and messaged the guy who owns the company...
    His reply:
    "Seymour Duncan '59 neck: 5400/-
    Seymour Duncan Distortion bridge: 4750/-
Combined cost: Rs. 10000/- including transportation to calcutta. (Delivery time 4-7 business days)
and my inbox is not working, so i would seriously suggest you to call on +919899805694 or send an e mail on playfloyd.1989@gmail.com
    "

I am a naturally paranoid guy, and was surprised to see the quote... Sure I was interested but I am kinda taken aback by the prices these low... Anyways, I got back to them via their email, asked how to transact with them, their return policy and if they have a website or not... Here's their reply...

    "Hi,

Kindly, let me know when you want to go ahead with this deal. We are currently working on our website and it will be up soon. In case the items are defective, the pickups will be replaced by Seymour Duncan's national distributor under Seymour Duncan's exchange policy.

I would be requiring your complete postal address in order to generate the receipt. Following are the bank details in which you can either make the payment via NEFT:

    1) A/c Holder's Name: XXXXXXXXX
    2) A/c No.: XXXXXXXXXXX
    3) Bank Name: XXXXXXXX
    4) Branch - XXXXXXXXXXXX
    5) A/c Type: XXXXXXXXXXX
    6) IFSC: XXXXXXXXXXXXXX"

(The account details were given but I purposely marked them out with XXXs)

"In case you want to make payment via cheque, the cheque needs to be drawn in favour of 'Play Floyd' and the items will be dispatched only once the funds are credited.

Also check out Bare Knuckle Pickups UK. They are wound and made entirely by hand and come with a lifetime warranty. They make humbuckers for number of 6 string, 7 string, 8 string guitars, pickups for Teles, Strats, P90s, Bass, HSS Sets, strings, Pickup selectors, tone pots and other accessories.

And all of this comes at a great discount.

Artists such as Matt Bellamy, Misha Mansoor, Gary Moore, Steve Stevens and Johnny Marr all use BKPs in their guitars. Bare Knuckle Pickups are also fitted by guitar manufacturers, such asFender Custom Shop, Manson Guitars, Blackmachine, and Peerless guitars.

I just wanted to know your opinions if I should transact with them or not... I am not experience with online shopping and 10000 Rupees is no small amount for a guy like me, especially when it consists of an entire year worth of saved pocket money... If anybody has transacted with them, do tell me your views... I just don't want to end up with knockoffs or used stuff...

Really sorry for the uber long post..

    Thanks in advance,
    Tirtha...

Just check Amazon.com too, if the difference is not too much you can buy from Amazon.

If they can ship to Bangalore, they can ship to Calcutta as well. However, not all items can be shipped to India.

Hey within how many days you get the product after placing an order? And is there any price difference if i order from Amazon directly as compared to buying it locally for goods worth below 10K?? Coz if the Shipping and Custom charges are added to the products then the price is somewhat crosses the local price...

I chose 3 week shipping in amazon and even with customs and shipping the price has been less by 200-500/- rupees in most cases though in couple of cases the amazon price was max 400 more. I still buy from Amazon coz they are reliable and most of the stuff that i want is out of stock in Indian stores.

So amazon gives the final amount including Shipping and Tax in dollars..
    - So should i consider that as the final amount??
    - Any taxes to be paid at the time of delivery?

Whatever you pay at checkout if final. The only condition is that it should be through Amazon's shipping service. You will clearly see import Fees and duties in the invoice when u proceed to pay.
