As i said above,in search of such an instrument.Would travel anywhere in india to look for it, if the specification and cost is of my interest.Want a comparatively cheaper model to try it in my band.

You can get a new one for less than 9ks by Grason or Givson... You have to go to their factory shop in Dum Dum (Calcutta).. They stock it over there only...

As i said above,i do need a cheap-ish double neck. But with nice quality too.So the givsons and grasons are out of question ;)

You gotta stick with Indian made stuff unless you wanna spend over $3000 since imported double necks are very rare here...

Besides, rest assured, the factory stuffs are quite good looking at their price, and definitely not "cheapish".. These are their top priced models... Saying so, because I live very near to the Grason and Givson factories... You can customize them with your own specs...

I have seen cheap Chinese guitars online. Look out for that. Try to import it from China incase you don't find them here.

I'm not one of those who may afford to buy instruments again and again.
I may raise my budget if needed, but would not like to settle for chinese or indian "makeshift" guitars.Have played givson and grason guitars as my first ones and am not happy with the build or sound quality.
I know that it will be difficult, but not impossible for me to find a guitar as per my expectations but i may wait for few weeks.
Otherwise i would listen to you guys n settle for the indian counterparts.
It will not be possible for me to import a specific model specially for myself.
Customization is not i want.I already know a couple of luthiers who may prepare a special model. But that would be even more expensive than going for a moderately priced second hand model.

    Can you specify your budget?

Right now i've got Rs 15000 cash with me.But our band will be selling some of our older stuff soon, which may fetch 5-10000 Rs more if needed.I'm ready to wait for a couple of months or so,to buy a decent double-neck.If i don't find anything suitable in this period, chinese or indian models will be my last option...

I doubt you'll get anything other than Chinese or Indian at that budget...

You'll have to wait... You'll be real lucky to get a good used double neck import at 20-25k.... Technically, you are talking about two guitars here and usually decent single necks start at this price mark...

Beware of counterfeits and defective ones though...

    Thanks for the support...

I know that all you've said is true.I'm willing to wait.I would show them to my friend who was an employee with a major instruments retailer to rule out counterfeits. As for defective ones,i'm used to finding one out.I once had pointed out a hairline crack in a friend's new epiphone les paul.
If things don't work out,i've decided that i wouldn't be going for a double neck then.I would instead buy a twelve-string which would suffice my rhythm needs...

There are pedals and mfx units which gives you a 12 string sound. Just buy a pedal and be good for now.

You can use a Micro POG
The bigger one is more expensive with more controls.

You can also use a chorus pedal to get the desired effect. I have a Boss PS5 which gets closer to 12 string sound. I also had a Boss AC3.
You just have to experiment with these options and make your choice.

Apart from this there are 12 string presets in the multi fx units. I don't have much idea bout the digital stuff.

The basic advantage of a 12-string (physical) guitar over a pedal is that it has more applications and would not lie unused,if it doesn't suit a player.
The only effects i own are a crybaby wah and boss distortion. The mfx units are things which i borrow from my frnds, sometimes.
These mfx units don't have good presets which would sound like a 12-string.
I don't use too much effects,so aside from the Boss AC3,other pedals would be a dead investment for me.
I've got friends who have bought stuff which i tried and didn't like, but they're like me too. They too don't use much effects themselves.
So the only options i've got is waiting for a good second hand imported non-chinese double neck or 12-string to be available or to go for a boss AC3(which i would use in situations where i require an acoustic).I would sell off my ovation acoustic then...

No pedal can sound exactly like a 12 string. It's not the real thing afterall...
