    Hi Guys,

While my Cort X6-SM is finally up for a sale, i have started looking for another one. My requirements:

    1. Hardtail
    2. Great Playability.
    3. Preferably HH and with a heavy tone.
    4. Good sustain.
    5. Not Neck-Heavy at all. (Although i have a fix for heavy necks but will still like to go for a balanced one).

I am not yet decided on budget but lets take the mean at 25. I like KX-Custom from Cort but other suggestions and pointers to used ones will be appreciated. I may have to buy online (I ll prefer furtados) too so please tell me if anyone of you have experience ordering a guitar online before? The heaviest stuff i have ordered so far is an amp which does not have very fragile parts, am not sure how well guitars are transported.

What's the upper limit for your budget?

You could get a Godin Redline HB or Exit 22 between ~30-45k I think, would be a worthwhile investment if you want to go a step up in quality from what's usually available in the 25k range. Not too many features in these two but the hardware is really good, especially the wood.

Thanks i was not thinking of crossing 35k and this looks the right fit. The best part is its 24 frets with 24.75" scale length, playability and range both are present. Do you know where can i find one in Bangalore? Any other suggestions

I think it should cost you about 38k(after 12.5% VAT) if their msrp in US($599) & India is same, at worse it would cost about 45k. No idea where to get one in Banglore. Bhargavas Musik (Mumbai) is the official delaer for them, my previous experience with them was wonderful but I was in Mumbai at that time. I bet they can ship it, might want to email them for prices.
Can't think of any other suggestions even within PRS SE line compared to the Godin for quality & price ratio. I myself have my eye on a Godin xtSA, probably have to sell two of my guitars to afford one though lol

I have seen this for about 30k on Saptswara online store. Amazon price is about 499 now. I am sold on 24/24.75. Will start the hunt as soon as the music stores open in the morning. I need it asap. Have a show in last week of July. Can you suggest couple of alternatives ? Hows do PRS SE Tremonti and Scheter Damien compare to this ?

If you need it urgently then stick with the Cort for now. Serioulsly if the HB is available at 38k then it's the better choice between the Tremonti SE, don't know about the Damien. If i was aware of Bhargavas a few years back, then I would never have gotten the PRS SE guitars in my Sig at all.

Darn, I just checked that site you mentioned. Get the Godin HB!

Ok thanks. Are you not happy with the PRS coz i kinda like the brand on the whole. Or is it that Godin is a better deal ?

Well in the SE line, the quality is there in the Finish they use on the body & neck. It looks flashy :| It's fine to play but not the same standard as the Godin at all. Trust me, get the Godin HB. The higher end PRS are high quality no doubt, but you won't get the kind of quality you get on these Godin in any low budget asian made guitar. ESP LTD on the other hand has good quality on models with number 400 & above, but the finish is lacking. The 400+ models come with EMG's or Duncan pickups & the usual hardware like the pots, fret wire, tuners, nut & bridge I've found to last longer then that of the SE line. In ESP LTDs I think they have mostly 1000 no. models, very few with 400 no. left right now unless you can find an old stock. Not sure on prices of those but I think they'll cost you more than the Redline HB, but the Redline 3 will cost about the same as one of the LTD 407/1000(?). Here I'd be torn between trying each one out before buying & the physical specs.

Thanks rickkkyrich but i am short of cash and will be going for the Credit Card Route. Btw, how much are you expecting ? If the deal sounds good i wont mind borrowing.

I am expecting 35k which is a pretty decent price for this axe with hard case, planet waves strap, patch cables, string winder and few picks. PRS SE245 was launched in NAMM 2011. You can pay me in installments. :p:

PRS SE, Ibanez ART Series, Epiphone LP, Epiphone SG, and ESP LP copies...

For a guitar without heavy neck, heavy tone and excellent sustain, Les Paul bodies best fit the bill...
However, you have to compromise a bit on the playability part...

Look for guitar with TOM stopbars instead of String thru body for a better tone and sustain...

Godin guitars are excellent too (my instructor Sumith Ramachandran is their official endorser in India) but most of them are expensive... Only a few fall in your budget and you should try them, of course!

@rickkyrich: Thanks for the EMI offer but i dont think you will like a 1 year option :)
@tirtha: Thanks for the suggestions. I just came back from MG/Brigade road and visited 4 shops in all: Sonido, Soundglitz, Reynolds and World of Music. I spent most of the time at Soundglitz. Here are the few guitars i liked and tested.

    PRS Single Cut (38k).
    Ibanez ART 120(23k)
Ibanez DN(31k White colored, dont remember the model number)
    Parker P42 (28k)
    Godin Redline HB (32k)

I liked the Godin overall (except for the bridge) but it wasn't as good in finish and playability as i had expected it to be. I am equally tempted on ART120 (Excellent build quality for the price) and PRS Singlecut (Very playable and ofcourse build quality too). Everything else lies in between but i am open to all of your suggestions. The price to quality ratio for all these guitars is very close by so i can pick up any of these. Please suggest which of these should i go for. I will however like to save cash as much as possible.

Side note: Had a look at Cort's Z64 and Z-Custom (the one with EMG actives). Man they are so nicely built and feel rock solid. Only down side is they are way too neck heavy.

If you are going for the ART 120, why not the Samick Avion AV6? Much better tonal quality...
I thought you weren't dropping below 25k that's why didn't suggest the AV6... Otherwise, it gives pretty much anything around that price mark a run for their money... Try the AV6 once the next time you visit a store.. Guarantee it'll blow your mind...

Is your credit card giving you such an option?

I have owned a AV1 long back, indeed its a great guitar. Just wanted to get hold of a more renowned name that's why did not look at Samick. ART120 does look well built (AV6 too is equally well built) and i think it has active pups. I am most likely going for DN500 or PRS but option 3 is still ART120. Any of you please give feedback on Parker P42 too.

Yes it does :) with a 200/- processing fee :)
