hi there, i wondering is there anyway to tell the difference between a pacifica 112 and the 012 by just looking? it doesn't look like there is anything written on the body concerning model no and such. just the word pacifica in italics on the head. i ask because i have been offered a second hand black colour 112 and the seller says he lost the original bill. i wouldn't mind if its either but the seller says its a 112 so i'd like to know if theres a way to tell anyway thanks all//
try to get the serial number on the guitar and Google for it or mail Yamaha support guys they will let u know which guitar is that. The neck wood is really better as compared to 012. In to a store and play 012. Try knockin on the wood coz alder and agathis wood will sound slightly different and hollow. Check the difference. Open up the back panel if AnY AND check for the Electronics. 112 has better Electronics. Are the pickups upgraded on 112?
hey cool, thanks for the reply,, checked the serial no and sent the same to yamaha lets see if it comes to something. also opened the back panel, but for a newbie like me i couldn't tell jack from sh!t. will probably head to a store to check them out for myself if the yamaha guys don't get back.. anyway thanks for the help...
Since no one can actually hear the difference between Agathis body and Alder wood - you cannot use your ears to distinguish. The next things that you can check: 1. Hot stamp at the back of headstock 2. Tuning keys. Pac 012 has square base, Pac 112 has round base. (Check the pic above for 112 and below for 012) 3. Pickups. Which Yamaha Pacifica: PAC012 or PAC112? Ppl here say that the poles of Pac112 are adjustable. Some model of 112 also comes with coil split.
