    Hi,
    '
I have an MG15CD Marshall amplifier and an Ibanez GRG170DX. Lately, the amplifier goes silent when I connect the guitar, but the cable does pick-up static when I touch the lead, which does get amplified. Is thr a place in Mumbai where I can get the amp repaired??? Also, is it worth getting repaired??? Or should I just buy a new amplifier???

There's absolutely no problem with your amp...
I had the same problem, its the cable that are causing it...

From what I'm guessing, you probably got them for free when you bought your rig... That's what these shops do... All the cheapshot chinese stuff...
Simply go and replace the cables... Get premium ones... Low end cable will not only get wasted after a few days but also add a lot of noise and hum to your tone..

What worries me is ... widda cable connected to the amp, if I touch the lead wid wid my finger, it transmits the noise to the amplifier and I get a louder noise. But the guitar signals don't get transmitted. Will get new cables. Hope that works out. Thanks a lot.

Go for GT10..if you are choosing in between ME25 and GT10...ME25 wud be a pain to use live..

ME70 in simple words is just mind blowing...GO FOR IT BLINDLY
There is this guy on fb selling his year old ME70 for 12K...he is from mumbai too...

search for "AM Used Musical Instruments" on fb..Or else search for this guy Snig Chatterjee...

    will do so :)
    gt10 or me70?
also have you tried the zoom g5?
apparently everyone who tries it falls in love with it

Nope didnt try the Zoom one...But Boss and Zoom no comparision...

In between GT10 and ME70..I wud pick up any...then it would completely depend upon my budget.

    Here are few points:-
Boss GT10 wud give u complete control over editiing of the tones and changing arranging patches....also a USB facility
ME 70 lacks that..But whatever effects are there in ME70 they are good...

GT10 offers a lot fo unnecessary stuff which makes no sense and i am sure there wud be instances when u wud just stick to few tones on that proc and use those....And then the rest of the features wud go for a toss.

But then if u hav the budget go for GT10..else ME70 is just sifficient!!!!

Zoom G5 is beating the crap out of the HD500/GT100 these days... It has got something really good about it... Dying to play one...But Boss is a different animal... If you want effects then go for Boss... If amp modelling go for POD HD or Zoom g3/g5.

USB interface is important to me cause i want to improve my recording quality significantly...
Also i need a suggestion for a good amp approx 12k
i will be getting a processor as well so dont need many effects. just pure clarity and volume

    me too :)
nice to hear from you after so long

could you explain this too me cause i know zilch about effects
whats the diff between amp modelling and effects?
so in laymans terms do you mean zoom has inferior reverb, overdrive etc?

Amp modelling is something like a virtual amplifier which is supposed to sound like a real one (which it does to an extent)
In processors like HD and Zoom or any other processor which supports amp modelling you can directly record the guitars to your computer but that's not all. They support effects as well but they don't sound as good as the effects on the Boss processors.
it's like... Guitar->Processor with amp modelling->Computer using some DAW.

But processors like the Boss GT10/ME70 which do not support amp modelling(i think) you need an amp to record stuff. It can't go directly to the PC. By effects i mean something like a pedalboard but with digital technology. It includes all effects depending on the processor.

In simple words if you wanna play through an actual amp go with the Boss.
If you wanna directly go to the processor to the DI box to the PA go for the amp modellers.

Correct me if i am wrong somewhere.

Boss ME70 has AMP Models and they can be combined with the pedal effects present in it... And yes it can be directly connected to an Audio Interface or a PA.

Yes but the amp models are much better in the line6 and zoom mentioned processors and effects are better in Boss. Sorry for the wrong info.

Nope u cant say they are better..Its just ME70 has few AMp Models..Whereas the variety in Line 6 and other procs is vast...Moreover There are 4 tweakable knobs thru which u can control the AMp models..which is really great..I liked the amp models..coz when u combine them with effects there are enormous tone variations that u can get...
