i heard people say dist/od pedals dont add anything much to the inbuilt drive sounds in lower end amps.... is that true???? and if that is true... 1. are time based effects pedals any good with small amps??? 2. what is the cheapest amp out there to make inbuilt drive sound better using pedals???(i mean when you change your parameters(gain, highs, lows, mids) it should be reflected significantly in the sound the amps produce and should sound better than the inbuilt drive)....
What is really low end in a "low end" amp? The price? The clean tone? The inbuilt overdrive? The less wattage? If your amp sounds good in clean setting, you can go ahead with pedals. What people usually talk about is using overdrive pedals like Boss SD or Tubescreamer TS etc in front of a tube amp, and using that to get Metal sound. The same pedal if you use in front of your "low end" amp, you may sound like a Jazz or Blues player. In any case, it does add much to the tone!
low end amp = sounds fake.....dosent sound all that good either on clean or on drive..... can i get a metal tone on a stranger(only clean) while using metal muff or metal zone......or any good pedal....any way possible???? ok...heres the equation..... i have a bc rich warbeast... i am an intermediate guitarist looking to play all metal(prog, heavy ,death, melodic death), neo classical......all mab, petrucci, paul gilbert, metallica, iron maiden, amon amarth, kalmah, COB, dragonfrce inspired stuff. i am looking to buy PEDALS and NOT PROCESSORS......coz i heard PEDALS last a lifetime.......is that a good idea???? and i dont want to buy a exceptional practice amp.....looking to buy a tube amp directly.....and is this a good idea???? plz....experts, gurus......throw in your valuable advice.... thanks in advance.....
LOL @ FAKE. So what is genuine then? Frankly, the artists and genre that you are looking out for is best served using a Solid state clean amplifier with a digital processor.
Get yourself a Multi Fx processor and be free from all the hassle... It's an expensive choice to go with analog effects... Though analog have its own advantages but not for people on low budget...
i currently have my friends zoom g2nu and stranger cube 20 but that dosent sound good with any patch......i tried some patches from guitarpatches.com........wat do i do now????
Sell it off and buy a better processor like Boss ME70, GT8/10, Line6 POD XT/X3 live or the HD series... Look out for the used processors there are plenty of those in the used market for a much lesser price...
Chikoo, if you want to take the hassle free pedal route - then you do have some METAL pedals for you. The problem is that later when you want a reverb, you will have to buy extra pedal. You want delay for solos, again extra pedal. A touch of phaser/flanger while riffing - a new pedal. ... So now coming to your pedals, I have no idea about Metal Muff, but boss Metal Zone is a very widely used pedal. I preferred AMT sound - so I got something known as Metallizer (though I have no idea if it is still in the market).
@ricky n alpha:thanks for your replies....i've thought of me 70 but dont have the revenue right now.....so will buy one after some time.... and can you let me know if someone is sellin one second hand..... and i got a deal on korg ax 1500 g for 6.5k but it was used for ffffffooouurrrr years......is that processor good???
Do not buy too old processor in my opinion... 1-2 years is fine ... rest depends on the usage also... don't buy any processor which already have an issue (no matter how minor it may be)..
