Single coil hum??

    Is it normal for single coil pickups to hum??..or dos it jst happen in cheaper guitars??

    cheaper ones hum more, but you will always get a hum when you drive the gain up if you use a single coil... They are good for cleans. If you want to get rid of the humming you're gonna have to get a humbucker.

    ya bt i want a john frusciante kinda sound u kno n humbuckers jst dnt giv u dat..u kno any guitar which has both single coil and humbuckers n givs u dat kinda sound??..:)

    There was a reason why HUMbuckers were introduced and became a success!

    der is also a reason y dey havnt entirely replaced single coil!

    You notice the hum only when you stop playing. You can use noise suppressor pedal to avoid that. Though it kills dynamics to an extent.
    You can get rid of hum to an extent by eliminating things causing hum like TV, computer, mobile phones or some earthing problem in the wiring.
    You can also opt for single coil humbuckers but it all depends on your taste and the sound you're after.

    because of the single coil tone?
    But that's got nothing to do with the noise part ... unless you actually prefer the noise that comes with single coils.

    noise suppressor sounds good...dem costly??..n wat u mean reduces dynamics less sustain for bends n ol??

    @Akshay: i really dunno abt pedals much..u kno wer i am lotta peopl use des multi-effect processors instead of individual pedals..

    Oh my ... , the perils of lurking in the "Beginners" forums is that it is filled with kids.
    And you know how idiotic kids are when they do stuff that they feel makes them look cool.

    well no offence but i thot dis was a discussion abt SINGLE COIL HUM nt abt how idiotic kids can be or how my typing is messin wid ur brain..so i rly think v ol kno hu is being particularly idiotic..
