How did it compare to the much adored POD?

(Funny how Line 6 POD and Apple iPOD are similar, crowds love it, but they don't know why - perhaps marketing?)

Well the only POD that was in my budget was the POD HD 300 around 24k..But that too i didnt want to spend that much. Boss ME 70 was just 18K.

Regarding Boss ME 70..I was not at all aware of how it sounds and i had never tried it before untill i got serious of buying a proc. I had tried Line6 Floor Pod, Vox Tonelab ST, EX, Boss ME 25, POD HD300, Korg AX3000G

I made my choice based on the following points:-
    1) I have always loved my Roland Microcube COSM effects. BOSS ME70 sports the same technology.

    2) No Doubt PODHD300 has some really great tones...But the effects on Boss ME 70 are equally good.

    3) ME 70 Preamps are really great.

    4) Infact i changed my mind on selling my Marshall MG 10cd. Its sounds really amazing with ME70. With my pedals i was not at all happy

    5) ME 70 headphones out is amazing. Even the recording quality is very good

    6) 18K equals 24k. obviously 18K for me atleast when i have loads of pedals too

    7) ME 70 build quality is way too good. STAND on it...Abuse the WAH..and i am sure nothing will happen to it.

    8) The only weak point i found in ME 70 was Chorus. Its a bit weak..Not bad..Just that u need to turn the knobs really high to get the effect

    9) 38secs multilayer looper is a treat

    10) I can use ME70 as 4 individual pedals which is great. I dont see any harm in using it live

    11) Great tones from Tube amp as well.. Infact i loved it equally through a solid state amp...

It's really good to know that you found your desired sound... That's what matters at the end of the day...

So compared to your pedal board - would you say that Me70 gets the tones (more and some better), and better/more effects ?

Here is the analysis done in a JAM room on huge laney ss amplifier with volume cranked up:-

    Overdrive/Distortion :-
    * Boost + Solo combination on proc is way to good..The Fat sound gets all the more FAT with smooth drive..No grainy stuff
    * On pedals Equally good..But the tone variations that i get right now with my pedals are less as compared to ME70. May be adding a MT2 or another overdrive wud get me more tones. But then again i cant save those on the fly...

    Compressor:-
    * Very good...Good for rhythm
    * I love my Boss Compressor..Its excellent too..

    Other Effects:-
    * I can mix up lot of effects along with Distortion/Overdrive and get great tones effortlessly. Single --> HUM converts a single coil in to a humbucker and Humbucker into a much fatter sounding p'Up...
    * I dont have many effect pedals to do this
*BOSS CE5 is better than the inbuilt chorus in ME70. But again there are alternatives like Univibe, Vibrato, Tremelo, Harmonizer which are very handy!!

WAH:- Very good. But again I had played on VOX wah..which imo is better. But again...I liked this WAH..Its smooth

Yes definitely tones are very good..I wudnt say better coz i dont have many pedals and the variations that i get with my pedals is not much...But existing tones are EQUALLY good...!!!

U asked me this queation in a wrong thread..lol!!!

Yay dude, seems like you found your tone in one box......good to know that :)

I told u, ME has some good effects, but seems like you like the preamps in it too, which should be a bonus really :)
