okay guys..i have been noticing the level of decline of activity this forum..since a long long time now..
where are all the amazing poets of IGT..? new talent.. ? old pro's.. ?!
acc. to me..when a person posts something over here..well a poem obviously .. he or she is really looking forward to appreciation and true criticism about his work (yes, i post for the same reason) ..otherwise he or she won't post it..would just keep it under wraps and it would die too .. collecting dust..

This forum has had some of the most amazing and beautiful works that i have read..why can't we keep it up..?
i really urge all of you to come forward and keenly participate and make this forum a place .. where one comes with a smile of expectation and leaves satisfied with some useful thought and a intriguing desire to do better..

    replies/comments/suggestions are very welcome.. :)

well .. i am not the only one posting over here..am i?
and this thread was started to discuss the " inactivity on poetry and lyrics forum" .. not the hyper - activity on my posts.

    Nandy is right :D

but nandy are you sure about people need appreciation .. i mean appreciation on a forum like IGT is quite a useless thing na ... we all are just a bunch of words here .. nahi ??

aww, you're like a 2008 version of me!

What I dislike is how people here don't seem to try and interpret what the other person is saying...or maybe put their own ideas or meaning to it? To my mind, that is what the writer wants to do most when they're writing....evoke a response, make you think a little, maybe put pictures in your head which influence your opinion in the future. And it's rewarding to have someone share that response with you.

Also, someone else was pointing this out as well but how people don't seem to want to reply unless they have something nice to say about what they're reading (of course, by something nice, people seem to think it's okay to say "nice lines, I loved it"....it's okay to say that when you don't have an opinion on something but if you say it to every single thing that's written, it does mean that you really do not have an opinion on anything which is a little sad).

The point of an online forum is to share stuff, discuss what's been written and why people feel the way they do when they're writing, maybe point out things that could have been done differently, maybe help the other person improve a little? If I wanted people to say "awww made me cry", I'd just post what I'm writing on facebook.

arree..it is normal human psychology..people do seek appreciation in everything that tthey do ..
okay..ill present my personal case..i am not at all good at reciting poetry ,, but i think i caaann .. write it down.. so i post it here .. i like it when people say good job..and i like it even more..when my faults r pointed out and i get a chance to improve..

appreciation is never useless..in my case..it brings a biiiiig smile on my face..like :) this.. a smile's never wasted or useless.. :)

    am i?? i am pleased.. :)
and i fully agree to whatever you've said..moreover id like to add..
people here don't really know each other..so that gives them perfect liberty to point out flaws without making the other person feel bad..or whatever..
i don't think any friend of mine would try to improve me by nit picking on my lines..on facebook..while it does happen here..

Good point you've brought up Nandy . I just checked the statistics of this particular forum, and it fluctuates, no definite trend seen. If it goes negative, then it nose dives, and suddenly you see most writers get all active and it goes up...

How about some constructive way of building this sub-section into one of the best places ?

We need more participants, more volunteers, promotions (need funds for this :D) ...

Ppl, pitch in how can we make it better ?

**Monika and Nandy - I'll get to you both personally on this personal section ..**

haha, no I suppose not...just that I made a similar thread for the chit chat lounge! I was always far more elitist and cynical and unpleasant.

I think that's a sad thing to happen though I agree, it does. I get tagged in a cousin's notes quite often and I rarely reply to them....and that's because I'm not particularly impressed by what he's saying there. And facebook is no longer personal space anymore...so being critical there would be the equivalent of dissing what he's written in front of a gathering where everyone else is saying "so beautiful", "brought tears to my eyes" etc. etc.

On a side note, unemployment isn't good for me. I find it difficult to even find the energy to type out 5 lines in reply to something.

yea i was just reading that thread.. .. man..! i guess it wasn't received that well! .. or was it all happy - happy gay- gay then ? good old times? and unpleasant ? are you .. ithink you are just honest..most of the people take it to be unpleasant or whatever..

that is one good thing that i do on facebook..i never tag anyone in my notes.. jisko padhna hai appe appe padhe.. :) so i think people over there won't curse me for infinite notifications as such.. :)

    OMG teh Facebuch!
Hate it from the core ...

Ok, so what happens when these "friends" tag me - do I get a message?
(I have seen some emails coming from FB to me saying I have been tagged ... never understood why - since I did not subscribe anywhere)

its not bad enough to HATE it..is it?
umm .. you get a notification..informing you that u are tagged by so and so in so and so .. .

No, I hate it because of people connected to it 24x7, and showing that they have a life outside FB.
And the others in their friend circle trying to out do them in this.

and "like" button used indiscriminately, and the fact that when I log in, I see all idiotic comments made by 24x7 stuck people on nondescript items which just happens to exist on one of the person in my friend list.

    FB = e-gossip
