i have used six poles of neodymium magnets and and some magnetic wires to wrap them up ...and i used calculator's plastic sheet to make the bobbin.....

    How much did it cost.

Of course there is nothing really great or special in the pickups that require ONLY machines to produce. If you have patience to hand wound, then pickups can be easily made manually.

yes ,main boring work is to wind the wires ..

the six poles cost me around 250 rs and wire is cheap around 30 rs.....

Damn..Its soo cheap...This is something really worth trying :)

Are the poles/magnets easily available in the shops?

What all parameters make the machine made pickups less noisy as compared to urs?

first thing i dont have any electric ....i have made it for my so called guitar givson crown..(haha)

and another is that u have to search for the magnets ....i m in delhi and i rarely found them in nearest shops ....but i found them in lajput rai market ...

and third is that in machine made pickups they used thin gauge wire and they wound around 5000-6000 turns and then put pickups in wax to reduce the microfonic feedback which is kind of noise in pickups .......more the turns better is the sound.

and in my pickups i used thick wire and haven't done wax potting..

Low no of turns = low inductance.
Which will cause less emf to be developed (=low signal).

Also low inductance will change the transfer characteristic of the system (pickups + pot + cables) and hence change the freq response.

Are you by any chance related to electrical field? i remember studying all these during engineering times(actually studied just for clearin the subjects) long time back but dont remember any damn thing...I wud have if i was related to that field..So was just curious to know...

^Wasn't all this part of class 12th Physics?

Yeah it was...And in engineering as well something on much higher level was taught which i never understood.....

So does that make alpha a class 12 student or someone who is workin in this field.... :p

i have place a capacitor to reduce the noise and got success.......yepiii....

and uploading the sample and got to know that i can't upload mp3 ...haha

    here is the link ..

I just happen to remember most of the stuff I read or learnt decades back ...

But then, the above line could be a false one, and I really just study in Secondary School!
