can one separate the amp head from a combo amplifier...so that he can use the amp head with other speakers
Yes, can be done, requires building a new cab for the head unit......and remember it also voids the warranty.... I am planning to do that for my laney cub 10, but its out of warranty anyways.....so doesn't matter... planning to do that with pine
There are a lot of sources here to get pine, I have mine.......its expensive, and its soft wood, so kind of hard to work with.......
Yeah Ricky, meaning ---- It breaks too easily and its pretty easy to overdo sanding or such things on it, so need to be very careful with pine...so in that sense
Well as i mentioned earlier, I am using soft wood (pine) to construct a head unit and not a speaker cabinet, so doesnt matter if it resonates, doesnt resonate.....and it ofcourse will be rugged, depends on how you build it, I am going to use dove tail joints for this...... Pine is soft, but not much soft that it wont be rugged, most older fender amps were made using pine.......and they are definitely rugged...
Pine because, I do not want to Tolex the head unit, and pine has some really nice grain and pattern that would be natural looking, will just apply some clear coat. It would look somewhat like the picture i attached here......
It would, but that would need tolexing etc, which i really do not want to do, want a natural looking wooden cab for the head.
Yeah it looks AWEOSME.........I hope I can get that kind of finish too.......Ordered the wood already.....Hoping I get the best pieces possible.....Will be going to the shop this friday to select the wood and get it.....
My pedalboard is made of same wood i guess... looks similar.. The finish was too awesome to be painted or polished...
UG Community @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com - Tutorial: turning your Combo amp into head + speaker cabinet Tutorial on how you can do that. Good Luck.
Just a word of caution... If you have a tube amp, make sure your speaker is plugged in before you start playing. Otherwise you could blow the output transformer of your amp before you know it.
