    Hey guys!

I just introduced myself in the introduction section and thought I should post this topic as it has been bugging me.

I needed some help for learning the guitar, and since I am an avid reader, I thought "Hey! A book may help me!", and then looked online for some books for beginners and ordered one, titled "Beginners' Programme to Plectrum Guitar" by Kapil Shrivastava.

The description stated that this book is for absolute beginners and even a 5 year old with no prior knowledge of music can use it to better their skills. The reality however is different and I found that out after receiving the book.

The very first exercise in this is written in musical language, and I have no idea how to read it. I don't even know if it's guitar tablature, modern notation or standard notation, so if anyone can please help me decipher the *code*, I will be able to use it.

These are the pictures of the very first exercises in the book.

The upper line is standard notation and the lower one is tablature.

the upper line is treble clef notation...we call it staff notation or sheet music...there are 2 major clefs treble and bass clef ...treble clefs are the ones played by spanish guitars and bass clefs have bass notes which you cannot play on your regular spanish guitar so you have to play them on bass guitar...there's one more mid clef or something which i dont remember it is used in saxophones. Bass and treble clef together constitutes in greater staff which only can be played on a piano..with one hand the musician will play bass clef notes and with the other treble clef....the other one on which you can see 6 lines and numbers are used is a tablature...those six lines are nothing but the representation of six strings of the guitar..
