So after building my first 1x10 cab a year and a half ago, I had to build another one, this time a 1x12 which i wanted to be cost effective and still sound great.

Went ahead with some dimensions that I had worked out with the help of someone, and started the build.
Got the best quality ply possible, with no voids in it....and had a carpenter start it off for me, he did a good job at the build, overall I must say that it has come out nice.

Got the Eminence Governor speaker, 8Ohms,75watts rating, look up the reviews of this speaker, Made in the US of A.

Here are some pics of how it has come out so far....A lot more work to be done though.
    Pics attached

    alpha1 I BLUES!

Do you do some calculations to get the size of cabinet or is it just based on what you want it to look like?

ok lets see you built a 1x10...but why in the god's name did you build a 1x12 you could have taken out the speaker from your 1x10 and placed it in a 2x12 along with your new speaker 2x12 is fuller sounding than a 1x10/12 extra space plus extra speaker equals more bass frequencies
nevertheless its a great cab get some tolex from ansar if you can

Yes I had worked out the dimensions after discussion with some people who make cabs, and pretty much the same dimensions as Avatar Contemporary Cab.

Do you mean I should have build a cab with 1x10" and 1x12" speaker? and put them in one cab?
Moreover, the 10" Celestion I have is from the Laney, its a crappy speaker, hence building the cab for the Laney.

Ansar didn't have enough Tolex to sell me, so i opted to go for Rexine instead. Got the grill cloth as well from Star Bazaar. Black Rexine with Dark Blue Grill Cloth with white dots......Looks good, when i tried a dry fit on the cab.

do u have to own a head for building a cab or u can use an amp
    just wondering

You dont necessarily need a head to use a cab, most amplifiers have an external speaker out, you can use that to connect the cab to the amp, the inbuilt speaker would be muted when you connect an external cab.
I am building this for my Laney Cub 10, more than for the Laney its for a head that I am planning to purchase, needed something that can handle more power so using a Eminence Spkr - Rated to handle upto 75 watts.

OK, so i received the jack plate, Switchcraft sockets and T-Nuts in the mail today. So the build is taking a good shape at the moment....Hope it turns out well :)
I am really thinking of working on cabinet building and also planning to sell it too, do you guys think it would work? I am serious about it, along with building some pedals too....I am not really going to do this to only make profits, but really want to provide some good quality speaker cabs and head cabs for a reasonable price....knowing what I would want from a cab or a pedal as a guitar player, I feel that I can do it....Amen!!!!!!!

    Hey Guys,
Have a quick question for you people, I have a Bosch toolkit, it has a power drill in it, I want to know if there is any place I can get a sander attachment for the drill, I know of circular sanders that may fit the drill, just curious, please let me know people.... I don't want to spend more on a separate sander, that I know exists in the market.....

checking back here after an eternity. cab looks fine, looks similar to my build pre-tolex but i think my build was a bit bigger. i used the AX84 1x12 ported cab plans and built them exactly according to those. one is loaded with a WGS reaper and one with a veteran 30. each cab sounds considerably bigger than a normal 1x12, using both cabs simultaneously sounds HUGE.

So I painted the baffle , Installed T-Nuts, Jack plate is installed, still working on the corners to shape up well (Wish I had more power tools)
Finding it hard to get a staple gun, any idea where to get it guys? Online or otherwise in Bangalore?

Here are some pics of it, Tolex is next once the sanding and shaping is complete, I am doing it too slow, but want it to come out well, hopefully the wait would be worth it.

paid regular WGS price for the speakers, lugged them across from the states myself. it was well under the 25k limit, so no customs applicable... but the bigass boxes made sure the customs checked my bags thoroughly. :/
