no actually we have too few of them (and not just on the internet). it's a more effective and entertaining way of teaching life lessons

    It's not, really.

I'm not sure these qualify as debates. Over the last two years, while sitting for interviews for admission to B schools, I was always scared of these really bad Group Discussions, the kind you have at the most competitive institutes...ones where there were 10 people sitting out of which at least 2 were trying to out-shout everybody else because they didn't have enough to say, another 4 picked sides and tried to interject whenever these 2 stopped for air but never really said anything at all, there was this one guy who'd always try to moderate the whole thing by saying things like "I agree but what do you think" while pointing at the mouse in the corner who really just wanted to go home. Everybody would be a little bi-tch in the whole process but you could see why...they were competing for a few spots and were trying to push their way through without leaving enough room for someone else. I could see why people would refuse to see that someone else could be right and just repeat what they were saying over and over again just to let everyone see that they had a point of view. I could see why someone would speak even though they had nothing to say just to make sure the moderators know their accents weren't THAT bad (sadly this is where pretend accents came in).

Now IGT seems to have taken over from MDI as the hub of all bad GDs...and people seem to be really coming into their own. It seems like a really bad discussion with no moderators.

    and post recordings...!

There is a reason this came up on the 31st. Sadly, subliminal messages (is that the term?) do not seem to be well received.

None taken. Having spent more time here than I should, I think I've been part of more than my fair share of bad discussions.

yes, of course. A recording is a recording...I avoid singing without an instrument because I feel that having a guitar covers up for a lot of my ordinary vocals and make it sound better and I'm very conscious of my voice. However, another girl here sent me vocal recordings once before of a couple of songs she made and I really liked them.

haha, no I don't. I think it's really hard to on the internet because text is difficult to interpret....like when you quoted me on my new year video of Berlin and said "thanks for sharing", my first reaction was "woah...sarcasm!" but then again, I wasn't sure!

Then again, my message wasn't really subliminal so that was a bad choice of words...I just think it was really really good advice.

    Am glad thanks..oh ok..

hmm..yes, of course. A recording is a recording.but then again according to u people with ordinary vocals and who are conscious of it should avoid singing without an instrument and go for guitars etc to cover up for it.hey..i too got ordinary vocals n i just sing [or should i say hum] for sheer passion and am conscious of it as i got a shrill high pitch n makes me sound juvenile[lol..sorry i brought that up again..].who knows what reaction may come out of u as u r no less sarcastic in your replies to me! lemme check out with other expert members like roentgen or kerof.anyway i know u dint ask for it,i myself asked 'would u like to hear'..wen i post it plz listen :)

wow..i do feel the same abt internet text n al.whatte conincidence![sorry for my bad accent]hey i got the same reaction like when you quoted me on my previous message[to be frank most of my messages]..my first reaction was "woah...sarcasm!" but then again, I wasn't sure![no offense, its a fact.u r no less sarcastic over internet text].:):):)..
btw.there was nothing sarcastic about in a 'thanks for sharing' message.through that link i watched many related links of awsome firework visuals at different parts of world.it was a genuine thanks message.you weren't sure abt the validity of it..am clearing it..peace :)

oh ok ok..i would be glad if the really really good advice is brought into practice n members stop pointing out others sarcasm without lessening theirs :):)

I will...I'm not proud of being conscious of my voice. I just am. I'd love to be less conscious about it. I'm not. I'm getting better...5 years ago, I would refuse to sing and post a recording and I'd rather have just played the guitar. Also, I am rather separate in regular discussions and music. I do try my best to put forward an honest opinion in the music recommendation thread, the sound recordings forum and the poetry place. This is something that I feel we don't have enough of here.

haha, sarcasm doesn't have to be a bad thing...and I wouldn't want it to stop. I just find it hard to pick out sometimes.

to be frank..even i am very conscious n thats y hesitating to post a recording.but its true i love music a lot n by virtue of it know endless songs n do sing it n record it as well at times just to know how i sound[n i sound bad n pathetic as well as juvi lol ]:):p::rock:;)..but i really wanna post some day:)..am glad to know u got 'two faces'..lol..n yeah will be hoping to get honest opinions from u some day :)

see see..u had a justification for ur share of sarcarsm.so does eveyone have theirs!..i wouldnt say its bad either
