    Hi All,

I want to buy a electric guitar and I am a beginner. Can any one suggest me which Guitar should I buy? My budget is around 12K ( including amps) and I can stretch to 16K max.
One of my office colleagues suggested me "Ibanez GRG170DX", but I found the mixed reviews for it on net. One person also suggested me to buy cheap "Givson" guitar for learning and buy a good guitar later.

    What do you suggest guys?

    Thanks in Advance

most of the giants will tell u that the budget is not very good
and also that tell which type pf music u want to play
and they will say givsons are shit[infact they really are(only those people recommend givsons who dont know how a guitar sounds good)]
so answer these questions first and then we will answer your questions

    Thanks a lot Guitarplayer729.
I am mostly into heavy metal and punk rock, though my dream is to play "Stairway to heaven" and "Sultan of Swings" on guitar. .
Bands- Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth and Greenday.

You mentioned about budget, I am ready to spend more than 20k on a guitar if it is worth (if it helps in my learning phase and also later)

Playing on a good guitar and a good sounding amplifier will make u sound good and will keep you motivated thus the learning curve would be steep!!!

I wud vote for Yamaha pacifica 120SJ and the Cort EVL series. There is also this Yamaha pacifica 112V (I have not played on it personally but have listened to the videos and that guy did some awesome chuggy riffs on that). U can try that if you get a chance

As far as amp is considered make ur choice depending upon whether u going to buy pedals or processors in the future or not. If you are planning to buy those in the near future then buy an amp which wud only have clean and distortion channel.

If you want an amp with inbuilt effects go for Roland Microcube. One of the best practice amp.
Lot of guys out here own Peavey Vypyr series which is suppose to be good.

Play the sh** out of the gear that u r planning to buy and then make a choice. Strictly dont buy something without trying..

Thanks "mymusicmyguitar" and "guitarplayer729". But I know you guys will want to kick me after reading the remaining post.
yesterday I had a long discussion with my 2 college friends( both were part of different rock bands in college). They convinced me to go to an acoustic this time and learn guitar on it rather than electric one and to move on to electric guitar 4-5 months later. Also this means investing less money now and save the money for an excellent elec. guitar later.

After searching through this whole forum, I've zeroed in to pluto and granada guitars. I'll buy a guitar this or next weekend and as "mymusicmyguitar" suggested, I(or my friend)'ll try to play the s**t out of it. :D :p
Hope I'm making the right move in learning the guitar.

    well it is ur choice
acoustic helps u to get used to a guitar
    roughs up ur fingers
    lets u develop speed
(but that doesnt mean u have to start with an acoustic)

or if u wanna buy an electric
then get a 10/15w amp w/out effects (kustom sound) and buy a dist pedal wid it
and cort evl k4/z4 or check out ibanezes in the <20k range

    @mymusicmyguitar
112v costs about 23000 how the hell he is gonna get it
and it is 112j(i guess you spelled it wrong)
