Can someone tell me what is actually difference between a "Semi-acoustic guitar" and a "Acoustic-electric_guitar" ? Is these functions and sounds better that a plain acoustic guitar? What type of guitar is good for playing rhythm/chords(except plain electric)? What should I buy? (And in which store in kolkata I can get it. Price range around Rs. 3500-10,000)
Dude a semi acoustic has an output jack for connecting to an amp... An acoustic doesnt have that and has to play unplugged. The semi acoustic will act as an acoustic without the wire. Any Yamaha guitar should be fine!
??? Well i hope this will help you uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090528030209AASjsYz i myself own two semi acoustic and love them...
omg the pic is soooo huge....anyways ...a semi acoustic has a body size equivalent to an electric guitars size yet its body is hollow ..whereas acoustic guitars have larger body size and when you put pickups in an acoustic guitar it becomes acoustic guitar...semi acoustic guitar when not connected to an amplifier will have a lower volume whereas electro acoustic guitar when unplugged produces the same amount of volume as an acoustic guitar and much much louder than semi acoustic...eg of semi acoustic guitars telecoustic thinline ,gibson es335 .eg of electro acoustic guitars cort earth, ovation applause...semi acoustic will sound kinda metallic whereas electro acoustic will retain the acoustic sound...
semi acoustics are not jumbo sized guitars...they are the size of electric guitars but have hollow body...electro acoustics will usually have piezo pickups ...the indian made guitars have actually confused the people...by making hybrid guitar models..
The acoustic electric is a normal Dreadnought or GA or Jumbo guitar with piezo pickups. While the semi electric is what razor was talking about they have normal pickups like an electric with a hollow body. Classic example of semi acoustic is the Gibson ES-335, while electric acoustic is what the op wants i think.
