haha i was kidding in my first response. it's natural to care..anybody who claims otherwise is either lying or has some psychological illness. however, just because you 'care' doesn't mean that you should ever let it affect your life in a negative way. it's good to care about and value others' opinions, but it's unnecessary to let their thoughts have an emotional impact on us.

well cant say when did i began it
maybe because my father always thought that when i got ill i was faking it to avoid a test in school
also he never thought that i studied with dedication and tried to force everyone against me

I don't think there was any AHA moment as such.
Just gradual observation, reasoning and rationalization of these observations and underlying causes.

    Perhaps right from childhood.

I used to till I was in secondary school but i gradually realized the more you care the more others try to dominate your life and you will make choices that are otherwise unacceptable to you So i stopped caring.

It depends on who is giving you feedback.
I would give an ear to the criticism if it is offered by someone who actually has achieved (or at least knows a lot about) what I am trying to achieve.

@wylder: It's not about giving feedback man... its neither about giving advice... its just about does it matters to you or not wat others think of you or might think if you do a certain action? or does it change the way you do things

The thread is about in general would you care about all the ppl (their opinions and judgements) ...?
Well to be fair to Wylder, he has a point.
You may not care anything about the whole world, but you may care about opinions and judgements of your close coterie (say some few in family or friends, etc)

Well when u stop caring about what people think bout u .. u eventually put an end for ur own growth....
A simple example...We perform and we all definitely care about our performance in short we do care about others opinions as a matter of fact u cannot survive in this world without caring bout any damn thing.

No matter how pathetic the society is u got to live with it ... sometimes caring and sometimes by just showin ur middle finger.....

Hmm... Since your description is pretty vague, my opinion would be (as alpha1 rightly said) that it again depends on who the people in question is.

For example, assume you were considering music as a career and wish to take up a music degree from a premier university (think Berklee) because that's what your heart tells you to. Now the opinions that matter would be that of your parents' and family - because they share the consequences of your decision. Also, those of people who have completed such a course matter. Opinions of people like us in an internet forum needn't be the deciding factor because we have neither a clue about how hard your determination is to get through it nor the first hand experience to advice you. Take such opinions with a pinch of salt.

Another example - should an artist care about what their audience think when they perform? I personally think that they should because the fans are paying money (directly or indirectly) for it. Its okay to get a little edgy at times but to play a gig when you haven't prepared well for it or when you are piss drunk is just disrespectful. On the other hand, fans have no right to judge the artist by his personal life.
