Hi this is JD from Mumbai. Like countless others (I am sure) I've been benefitting from IGT for a long time, finally got around to joining as a member. I play a bit of guitars and try some production at my home studio setup: System: Win XP SP2 | Intel E8400 | 4GB RAM Interface: M-Audio 2496 Monitors: Edirol MA 15D Recording equipment: SM57 | Yamaha F210 | Yamaha DGX 220 (both as direct keyboard & MIDI controller) As you can guess this was a great budget home setup 3years ago. I am looking at upgrading now (have some purchases planned). Looking forward to IGT's help in advice, tips and letting-go of equipment. Cheers!t
Hey Jd_x welcome on board. What software equipments (progs) are you using? Did you made any recordings?
Thanks @Vader & @Keoraf. I fool around a bit with NI Komplete, Ableton Live 8, Cubase 5. Used Reason4 for sometime. Will post my stuff when I think its ready for the world Cheers!
I personally suggest Cubase SX 5, thats all in one. Some people prefer Reason because it comes along with the software instruments. I've worked some with Reason (a while ago), but not for long, in my opinion Cubase is one of the best. There is a little point, to work with Cubase it is necessary to own a good PC and enough of memory installed, at least 4GB! Since a year i own a Radisys PC, actually its a server. Two Dual Core Xenon processors and 8GB memory installed! This is just a heavy duty PC, i can do almost everything with this PC and its very, very stable, nothing to complain about!
but what about making simple drum beats or chords just as a guitar backing track just for jamming along? cause i've heard Cubase is hard does Cubase have software intruments
Cubase is more for people who wants to make some professional stuff. It just what i said in my previous post, its a all in one package. I am working for almost 10 years with this prog, i don't agree with those people who are saying its too hard. It is true, it isn't a simple prog, but when fooling around and trying this prog for a while you'll know how to arrange song. I don't know everything about this prog, but the things i want to do i found it out as for me its enough, but there are lots of features i've never used or maybe even i don't know they exist. Its a very complicated prog made for professional use. It comes along with some in built software intruments (VST -instruments called) as it is enough when you are playing and fooling around with the prog. But there are lots of other VSTi's on the internet, much and much better than the inbuilt instruments. For jamming along with a beat, i think fruityloops is a very good prog and to make a simple beat with Fruity Loops, it is done in a few seconds!
Hi, Nothing beats Reason when it comes to getting started. I'm sure there are simpler/quicker software, but I have always found them inadequate in what they can offer. With Reason 5, Record is bundled in too. See the official YouTube demos to see what this beast is capable of! Reason has VST limitations though. In my opinion: For production - Logic / Cubase DJing - Live+Deckadance / Traktor Jumpstarting/Musician's choice - Reason You can differ with me, but we can't kill each other
I have a n00B question: I posted a classified in the "Buy/Sell"section. Now I want to remove/delete the post as the item as been sold. If that is not possible, I would atleast like to change the title of the post to reflect that the thread is closed.I cant seem to find the necessary action buttons. Can some wise-one help? Thanks. PS - You're welcome @Vader
Click on edit post for the first post on the thread. There, you can change the title to what you want. I thought you should've been able to delete your own thread too but I couldn't figure out how.
Nopes. When I go to edit the first post, I can only edit the entry (giving some reason for the edit). The title stays uneditable. Request moderators to help please. Thanks!
