Hey there guys! Im going to buy a new guitar really soon. Im looking for a guitar to play metal mainly. bands like Bullet For My Valentine,Iron Maiden, Metallica, Lamb of God etc. So i need awesome distortion. I currently own a peavey vypyr 15 and a yamaha pacifica. I might not get a new amp anytime soon. So its a guitar. I want a guitar that stays in tune a lot. And I hardly use the tremolo but if there is a guitar with a good tremolo that doesnt detune the guitar, it would be awesome. I need a guitar under 20000.
    Thanks!

maybe you should go for cort evl ...it has got active emg pickups...and if you are telling that you wanna play metal then i would suggest this...may try b.c.rich...but i dont know whether the cheaper models are worth buying or not...,esp explorer...is also there...

Try greg bennett Torino tr3, it is a gibson sg copy, with humbuckers can do metal i think. Avoid anything with a Locking tremolo at this price point as they are all crap. I'd say avoid all the cheap basswood guitars as they have korean basswood, which isnt known for its great tone. https://www.jemsite.com/jem/wood.htm here is a great website showing different woods and how they affect tone you may find it useful.

Thanks but i dont like the looks of the cort evl series and i hate sgs. Im more of a superstrat guy, The ibanez rg shape.

cort kxq1 if you want a mohagony guitar or a rgr321ex if you want a basswood
but a rule of the thumb--avoid basswood for stuff like b4mv and stufg
and ask this question on u.g you wont get quality advice here anyways
and stay away from greg whatever that brand is
and dont go for cort evl it has a tremelo i wouldnt suggest you going for tremelos at this stage
btw do you still suck at equing or did you made some progress?? ;D

the best option would be ibanez only...ibanez are hardcore metal guitars...but then the lower ends are not that good ...try esp mh53 ...or else ibanez rg321mh

Ok the cort looks pretty good. And so does the rg321mh. And I made a lot of progress , thanks for asking :p. I was able to succesfully create a BFMV like setting on the vypyr.

EDIT: It also has a mahogany body! Yes! MY DREAM GUITAR! COMPLETE! Awesome finish, okay pickups, awesome body and cheap price! After a while, I'll add dimarzio d-activators or emgs! Thanks!

the mh is discontinued only the ex model is in production
and dont go on the brand name all ibby/esp guitars are made by cort only
trust me on this one like you did when getting the vypyr you wont regret it check its review my imsjr or the tone king and listen what he's gotta say about it he's a kickass fat lad who reviews gear

Do you have any personal experience with that brand to say stay away? Have you tried those guitars? They actually make very good guitars. It is owned by Samick and Greg Bennett is actually a very famous and capable Luthier/Guitar tech who designs for them.

im new to this forum...but...dude, are u a deuchebag?! have you even tried any of the stuff you campaign against, or just playing shotgun? like on a machismo kick?!

@amit - i wont say much, whts with expert advice all flying around..but ibanez undoubtedly creates metal oriented guitars..and i'd suggest you try jackson..and if u seriously are into metal..do try out a 7 stringed guitar..rather than playing on lower tunings..u'll get enormous depth and heavy crunching in your riffs with 7 strings..cort EVL K47B or X4 (personal choice..tried it, and love the clean from the HZ S3)..rest is all you'r choice..

dear ****head try seymour duncan blackouts and then you'l share my opinion 81/85 kill the guitar's natural sound on the other hand blackouts are more organic more warm sounding,if you want something even warmer get bareknucle warpigs
and i wasnt impressed by an av3 at all

    lotta hostility here...
everyone has (and is allowed to have) a different opinion
    so lets not get personal
    peace

which pacifica do u own... 112?
i personally prefer corts to low end ibbys
    ltds blow man
the are popular only cause they are marketed well...
    trust me on this

i wouldnt recommend getting an ltd even for a upgrade from java
better to buy a pacifica 012 and get pick ups worth 5-6k

as for your query... cort is the way to go
my budget was 15k i'm saving up to 28k to buy the cheapest Godin(American made hardtail)

Ok I currently have a yamaha pacifica 012 with stock pickups... Will it benefit me if i mod my guitar? If so, What pickup would work well with my guitar? Its agathis, cheaper version of mahogany, so I think pickups that work well with mahogany should work well with my pac012.
I saw a Seymour Duncan Distortion SH-6 and DiMarzio D-Activators and DiMarzio Super Distortion. Which one would be better for my guitar? My budget for pups would be 4k-5k max. And id like to stay away from actives. I play Iron Maiden, Bullet For My Valentine etc and I also play punk and rock/hard rock.

Dude i was just comparing between 012+pick ups vs ltds
dont go for pick ups on 012
    upgrade ur guitar first
even yamaha rgx would be an upgrade for u then
    its not hard core metal
but gives decent metal sounds (can cover most bfmv songs like tears dont fall, say goodnight)
also most of punk and hard rock
then you can get pick ups accordingly
also i'm not the best guy to ask about pick ups...

What if i get an epi lp 100. Its pretty cheap in furtados and with some extra bucks, i can add a better pickup right? It a mahogany body guitar so...

    Gibson.com: Epiphone Les Paul 100

And its also got tone and volume knob for both pups.

    hmmm
    its an option
but initially dont spend on pickups
and i dont trust low end esp/gibsons
i havent played this very guitar so i'm no one to judge....

the order i would go in
    1. Decent guitar
    2. get a really good amp (very helpful for jamming/small performances like college canteen :p... but seriously... even small rock shows)
    3. then decent processor
then pick ups/pedals simultaneously depending on my req at that point of time...
oh yeah and on the way u should spend on good jack cables
u get fender for around 1000
    they really enhance sound

    P.S.
if you already own a vypyr or Orange 30 amp then u can move on to pick ups directly...
