give me the names of bands you listen to first
basswood is ideal for shred/old school metal
mohagony is ideal for modern forms of metal like metalcore, powermetal thrash etc
if you are into modern metal go for mohagony guitar save up 6k and get a cort kx1q
or if you want a basswood guitar go for rgr321ex you wont get good metal guitars in your 13k budget
the only good guitar within 13k is yahama pacafia 112 but you cant play any forms of metal with it because it has single coil pups you need humbuckers for metal
dont go for ibanez grg's very cheap finish imo
the same goes for cheap esps

What is your level of playing? Beginner? Intermediate? Expert?
If you want a decent playable guitar that will last you, i recommend upping your budget. I started with a similar budget about 2 months back and after hearing opinions from some good players and Luthiers i decided to up my budget and get a decent guitar. https://justinguitarcommunity.com check out the forum on this site, the electric guitar section, great place with lot of experienced people, especially listen to Dan Greaves advice he knows what he is talking and is a Guitar tech/Luthier by profession.

And also playing metal, blues, jazz etc can be achieved on almost any guitar, it is more of a function of amp, the pedals or effects and above all the playing style that discriminate the genres. Play the 12 bar or the 7th chords with the "Chunka-Chunka" rhythm you get blues, play palm muted power chords with demonic strumming you get metal, play the jazz chords you get jazz. At the budget you mentioned there are hardly any decent guitars.

But still if you really cannot extend your budget again check out Epiphone SG special only decent option. But try extensively before buying i've heard the QC is bad at this range and there are many faulty guitars, check thoroughly before buying. I seen cases where only the bridge pickup worked and neck one was faulty!!

i mostly listen to children of bodom, bfmv, disturbed, metallica
actually its been 5 months with the guitar but i still want a entry guitar as the guitar i currently possess is
    well what can i say
is not good enough for the genres i play

Go with the sg special then, as it has humbuckers or go for a pacifica 112 as you cannot go wrong with this one, at your stage i wouldnt worry too much about playing metal or anything else, first concentrate on the basics that are common to all as metal is a technically intensive genre, work on developing your techniques.

tell me the name of those pups and ya kxq1 is the best one i have tried ibbys/esp's and deans in that price range but all of em lost infront of it when it came to the finish and playability
however i disliked 2 things about it
comes with a black neck i am a sucker for necks with natural finishes
the stock pups are crap tried one with blackouts ahb1 and it was s e x
the only guitar whivh i found better than it was a 30k prs dont remember the model though
i basically like lp's tone in a superstrat body cort offers just that its neck is just. 5 mm thicker than wizard ii and 2.5 mm thinner than esp's so...
try it out man its better than my 24k rga32

If you are beginner dont stress out too much on stuff like changing pickups and stuff, Get a nice playable guitar which will be easy to learn, and as for playing metal i tell you once more any guitar with the right amp and effects can do metal. Yngwie Malmsteen uses a Strat to play metal. So yes you can use any guitar to play metal.
Dont fret too much over that and go try out the SG special or the Pacifica 112j(it has a humbucker in the bridge position) both nice budget guitars. If you dont like them then go for higher budget stuff. Buy the SG with some caution as they have been some faulty pieces the pacifica you can buy blindly. And I also recommend changing the strings and having your guitar set up as soon as you buy the guitar because the you dont know how long the guitar has been in the store. Check the action, fret buzz etc before buying.

I was commenting on fact that you can use any TYPE of guitar to play metal, there nothing as such that you can play metal only if you have Schecter Hellraiser with EMG Actives installed. A pacifica 112j can do metal as well as a Epiphone sg special can. Crap guitars will be crap though.

    exactly my point
i'm just trying to get the kid a good guitar in his price range

    @gp729
trust me cort x blows below X6
    like i said earlier
    no zenox no ltds
    go for pacifica 112 then
    decent versatile guitar

my friend bought rgx few weeks back for 13 point something so depends where u look
