    Perhaps some conspiracy.

You know the truth: ppl who have sold their souls to the devil are usually highly influential and well placed ...

yeah but those people certainly wouldn't mind the satanic thread

perhaps the admin or some moderator is a devout christian? :]

@All - Some other friends over here were deeply hurt by that particular post and reported it. Honestly, I've never made an attempt to go through the content of the particular said thread. Another mod had deleted the thread, I changed the status from deleted to closed.

Any post that incites hate should not be encouraged.

    I guess it's justifiable.

    Cheers,

PS: I've not gone through the content of the post, I might be wrong. Let me know if I am, I'll go through the post and then decide :)

I went through it again. In my opinion, the only hate incited is by people speaking against satanic churches....unless you include a conversation between petunia, elfascinating and I in 2008 about wits and charm.

I doubt that the person who reported the thread read beyond the subject line.

Right and we should bury all discussions about anything that may be wrong, or questionable, and let it continue just because certain ppl will feel hurt (I am talking about both = pro-satan / anti-christ as well as pro-christ / anti-satan).

well lets see where these restrictions land us up

we can't discuss god cause atheists exist
we can't discuss evolution cause religion exists
we can't discuss rape cause girls exist
we can't discuss education cause uneducated ppl exist
nor can we discuss s3x cause virgins exist

all of the respective people will get hurt by the above topics. but then the point is they don't deserve to be on internet forums (where DISCUSSIONS happen) if they do

Does satanism have to be Anti-Christian in particular? I thought it was a movement against organized religion. Ofcourse, in America the largest organized religion being Christianity, that makes sense. But out here?

Regardless of the implications of Satanism, I strongly believe that discussions should not be moderated unless there is a very good reason. I also believe that the administrator agrees with this. There is a difference between discussions and anti-something propoganda. And both should be given a chance to flow because, if a forum is active, blind propoganda ends up sounding silly. Take this thread for example where vini came up with her brilliantly parroted insights about what satanism represents and it was shot down by people who possibly did not believe in the concept themselves. It wouldn't surprise me if she was komal or susan thom or both. At least one of them sounds like her.

Also, let's not be naive about where we are. This is, after all, the internet. There are very few lines that are not crossed. Are we still going to try and censor out thoughts? Let's not allow a Taslima Nasrin here at least?

On the subject of what I find offensive, I could go an absolute ****ing tirade which would include the fact that one of the words in this sentence is going to get censored. It would be a grand tirade, not seen since Sarat Chandra Gnanana left these forums (which, truth be told, was probably not too long ago). It would include threads like "Want to form a rock band in Bangalore" and also people like myself. It would include the push to turn back time. It would include half the universe but I digress. Given half a chance, I would love to physically control how the forum ran but I shouldn't be allowed to.

I agree to the fact that, unless it's not forcefully propagating one's belief onto another member, or if it's about anti-something, there is no harm discussing pros and cons.

I'll look into the thread soon and decide if it needs to be left open for further discussion.

Having said that, there will be topics which we will keep the forum free from, and there will be no exceptions for those :)

    Cheers :)

haha, I find that it has a lot more impact that way. It's the same with appreciation. How many supers must you put before the like to convey that you like something? (how bob dylan)

Super-Admin, that sounds fair. Thank you. While we're on the subject, can we uncensor words? Anyone who wants to say fuck really badly can still say it and besides, we're mostly all older than 9 here.

Satan = the arch angel who defied god, and fell; tried to divert Adam from the path of god.
Adam = who follows path of god, and therefore is against Satan.

Christ = person/son of god/prophet (depending on which religion you belong to) who brought humanity back to the path of god.

If you are a Jew/Christian/Muslim (and follow it to the core), then you have be anti-satan.
And if you are on Satan's side = you are not on god/Adam/Christ's side.

I don't think you are clear on the ideology behind Satanism. It has little to do with worshiping the Devil as such. Come on, I am sure every religion depicts Devil as the loser in the battle of Good vs Evil. Why would somebody want to be on the losing side??

Satanists do not really believe in the divine. They believe that the purpose of life is to seek satisfaction and happiness for oneself. The Satan they worship is only a figurative anti-God. They do not expect Satan to save them from their misery and such. The Satanism and occultism portrayed by musicians and media is done for the shock value and to make money. Obviously, nobody believes deep inside that they are evil :D

what you are naively referring to is LaVeyawn Satanism. the definition of Satan is much different

Yeah... I thought he is the author of the Satanic Bible and founder of Church of Satan. This is one of the more common sects of Satanism.

Are you guys actually talking about Occultism?

Then perhaps they should use some other word than SATAN.
SATAN as a word has a precise meaning - and therefore satanism = confirming to those beliefs.

If its about satisfaction, happiness, pleasure etc - there are better words for that - Epicurean, come to my mind.
Which I believe I am (and so are many ppl secretly).

But satan and god Bullcrap - oh no!

IMHO, the meanings for terms like God, Satan, Good, Evil etc are relative. Everybody wants to do the right thing, be the good guy and propagate the truth to an otherwise blind world. The only difference is the point of view i.e., what the truth is and who is good/right.

As I stated earlier, Adolf Hitler wouldn't have believed that he was evil for attempting to wipe out a race from the earth. He believed that they were trouble makers and that he was avenging them rightfully. Similarly, Stalin's iron rule in Russia caused millions of cruel deaths. But he believed that he was pushing the nation towards rapid progress and it was the only way to stay ahead in the arms race.

If you believe in Lucifer from the Bible/Qur'an, you must surely also believe in the after-life/eternal hell.. And that evil will ultimately be destroyed... Now what kind of sound doctrine would promise its followers hell as the eternal reward for following it?
