Hey guys, I want to record a video of my own covering a song, just like so many others on Youtube ... But I still can't figure out what all will be required to actually do the recording ... I know direct recording won't do the job as there is lot of latency in the sound and the end result is poor ... Please give me your advice on what recording equipment to use for both acoustic as well electric guitar ... I'll greatly appreciate your help

Thnx for all d help, but the tongue-in-cheek reply wasn't required :p ... I've got some queries, could u plz clarify them ?

    1. I have a Logitech C270h HD (720p) Webcam ... Would it be sufficient for recording d video ?
    2. I'm planning to buy either the Shure SM57 or one of the Sennheiser e-series mics ... Which one will be b8r?
    3. Which one of the interfaces should I go for : M-Audio Fast Track II or the Line 6 POD Studio UX1/UX2 ?
    4. I might download the Adobe Audition, is it good enough or is Reaper b8r ?

Also, should I record both the audio and video at the same time or recording them separately would be a better option ??? Waiting for ur reply

    -no idea about your webcam
    -get the 57
-reaper is a poor man's pro tools
-stay away from the interfaces you mentioned especially the line 6 tell me your computer's specs first
-and you need to record the video and audio together

I recommend Adobe Audition, and if you want to do some more, i mean whole compositions etc. than you should go for Cubase SX, this is all in one, audio and video!
A little tip about your PC, if you can afford then you should upgrade your RAM to atleast 4 GB!

Thnx for d tip, I'll keep dat in mind ... I value your opinion, but I've checked it out and Apogee is used by pro's and I'm only gonna do recording at home ... Plus, I only have 2 GB RAM which isn't sufficient enough to run 2 OS' side-by-side ... So I'll either go for the M-Audio or the Line 6 UX1 ... Thnx for ur help, I really appreciate it :)

Thnx Keoraf, I have downloaded the Adobe Audition already and I won't be moving on to my own compositions any time soon, but thnx fr d tip, it'll be handy ... I will upgrade the RAM soon, but I didn't do it earlier as the cost of upgrading my system was quite a bit

Just one more question, is the interface required for acoustic guitar recording also ??? I know that it is used for the electric guitar, but I want to clarify if it is used for the acoustic as well ... Thanks a lot

yes but you need to attach a condenser with the interface to record acoustic guitar

Ok, thanks a lot Deepsal for clarifying my query ... But I don't think I'll buy a condenser mic as a good one costs nothing below 7-8k and that will overstretch my budget ... I'll stick with the SM57 as it's an instrumental mic and I've heard that it's good also for recording acoustic guitar, but thanks anyway

Dude i have a maudio mkII interface and its awsm . or maybe you can try line 6 d gx ( thier software is awsm for modelling amps and quite simple to use ) .

interface has a inbuilt sound card , the latency is not good but you need a noise gate before you record your guitar . i believe use a guitar processor . for clean sound as you like and then record or pc :) get pro tools essential , or try krystal . :) google around :p
