    I wanted to buy a microphone for recording covers of songs at home, so kindly suggest a suitable microphone in the range of 1-2k, as mics like the SM57 or 58 are practically unaffordable for me due to their very high price

    I dont know any good ones except the shure sm57
    i always say never buy sub standard cheap ass dick gear save up for the sm57
    its the industrial standard for recording mics
    and you need an interface too for that
    i use
    shure sm57->apogee one->mac
    btw do whats your rig??

    ^True... Don't waste money on cheapo mics... I have a SM58 and it definitely is worth an investment.

    Shure SM58

    @ Rickkkyrich: Dude, should I go for a Sennheisser ??? I've seen their mics cost something like 2k or instead go for a Shure, please clarify ... And I do know SM58 is worth an investment, but it's quite costly

    the sennheiser ones are pretty decent.. i've one e815s i think.. pretty decent for the price.. had got it for around 2.5k or something.. i've also used an SM58 before this for sometime.. the sennheiser is pretty close..
