Improvisation help - chord progressions and rhythms

I'm trying to explore more in improvisation, trying to spice it up too.

(Both styles which I play - fingerstyle and touchstyle - allow one to play bass, rhythm and melody at the same time.)

    I'm looking for new
-chord progressions - hopefully involving more exotic chords, I want to explore more tonalities
-and more rhythms - for accompaniment.
Hopefully something I try will inspire more ideas - the progressions and rhythms I've been doing so far (see below) just don't inspire me for melodies anymore.

The chord progressions I've done so far -
    Major keys - I-V7-I, I-IV-V7-I (sometimes I sneak in a vii(dim)-I).
    Minor keys - i-iv-V.

The kinds of accompaniment I've done so far -
-Simple bass notes in crotchets, and sometimes in quavers.
-The kind of rhythm in Mozart's Rondo Alla Turca, i.e. oom-pah-pah-pah (4/4) and oom-pah-pah (compound time).

Any ideas/hints, as well as outright suggestions, would be helpful :D
    Thanks.

You're the composer, you tell me. kekeke xD
The original topic got solved (a little) in the jazzguitar.be forums, so...

    Any ideas on this?
There are quite a few options here.

    What I have -
    a repairable borrowed MG15,
a laptop (Celeron, WinXP SP3, 1.73 GHz, 504 MB RAM, decent free disk space), a desktop with somewhat better specs (but ironically slower speed),
    a 7 string guitar, a Yamaha C70 and a Givson acoustic,
    an RP300A,
    18k in cash.

What I want - to be able to perform, any and everywhere. A basic portable setup with which I can earn.

i don think you're still in a position to perform live.. so better don spend any money as of now.. invest it for an year.. make an FD at least.. I know the crowd of Delhi and i'm sure at the end of the day the best you'll have is some rotten eggs and tomatoes at your disposal.. my two cents..
Rest its your money .. do watever you feel like..

    God...that makes me feel hopeless.
And due to certain circumstances I need to be performing by March.
...Something will have to be done.
    Thank you for your replies.

I was just telling my point of view..No need to be hopeless but it's always good to be realistic.. i may be wrong.. i'm no God !!!

guitar, netbook, USB interface, guitar rig. you can't afford anything else for now.

also, if you're serious about your intentions, start performing ASAP. for friends, family, at parties, etc. get used to playing to an audience and learning about what your needs for performing live are. a common and silly mistake is to believing that a certain piece of equipment is the key to live performance - i do that. you're just a gearhead then.

Didn't quite get the joke. o_O

Besides, I'm having my share of paranoid questions.
Is the Line6 Studio GX reliable? I've read of poor build quality.
Will my laptop be fast enough for live work?
What should I use for the final output?
What if I get one of these?

I don't like giving advise to nobody me breda, but it seems you're about to fall into the rabbit hole, and you've no idea how deep it might go.

You're worried about the line6's and laptops, whereas what you should be worrying about right now is your music. Practicing with what you have right now and improving on it is what you must concentrate on right now. Once you do that, everything else will automatically fall in place. You're trying to do too many things at a time, from what i feel, and are ending up being able to do nothing. So my advise right now would be to stop wondering which gear to buy, which laptop to use fr live or any such doubts and concentrate on the MUSIC.

People have performed live with worse equipments than yours. What matters is the skill, the quality of your work. Give stevie vai a shitty guitar and amp and he will make it sound like stevie vai. Get my point?

I'd say you are lucky enough to be able to chase after your dream of playing to an audience, live. Make full use of this opportunity. Just practice, practice and practice. Once you are ready, everything else will fall into place, the laptops, the equipments, the amplifiers, everything. Just concentrate on your MUSIC for now.

    Cheers.

    @gamebore
    I completely agree.

But current amp is broken. Requires an incredible amount of fiddling. I don't care for tone, I can always tweak it into something acceptable to me at this point. But I at least require the setup, no matter how basic, to play without hassles.

And I want to move out of the four walls of my room.

I'm looking at either the Roland Mobile Cube, Cube Street (relooking it), or the Roland Bass RX. Basically, all I want is it should be battery powered and it must not conk out when I play the 7th string. Screw all else for now - I'm taking just what I need and no more.

    Thanks.

    See flood knows.
If you want to explore and spice up, and perhaps build your own style - you will have to deliberately forget about the "musical rules".
    And "play it by ear".

Which means you will have to unlearn whatever you have learnt.
Once you do that, you will be able to compose and improvise upon anything you come across - and your musical abilities will not be restricted to playing typical ii-V-i or I-IV-V progressions in rock/pop music.
